Is My Glider Okay?

 Is My Glider Okay?

My glider has not really played at night in about a week & he has not ate his Veggies or fruit in 2 nights, He will eat his meal worms but not his pellets. We got him November 30th of 2012, He had just a little bit at the bottom of the bag of his pellets that he came with. He was happy the first night playing & everything, Then when he ran out of his pellets he stop acting like that. We bought some glider pellets at Petsmart but he DOES NOT like it, So we had to take it back. We are ordering him the pellets he came with so hopefully that works. He has ate a piece of apple in his pouch but he is not getting out to eat. So can anyone tell me what could be wrong with Ramble?? The previous owner didn't have any calcium, so could that be the reason also?

Here is Ramble when he was playing lol

Oh, and also, I'm sure someone else will suggest this. On top of switching his diet to a proper one, you may want to take him to a vet at some point in the near future to get him checked out for parasites, infections and whatever else. It never hurts to be safe and from what everyone's told me personally, it's generally a common thing to do when you get a new glider - especially when it's from a previous owner who didn't feed him properly.

Like Justin said, pellets alone are good for a daytime snack when gliders happen to wake up, but they are NOT a primary food source and can be very dangerous to their health if you treat it as such. I'm fairly new to the glider world but countless articles and research suggest that diets like LGRS, BML or HPW are very popular and healthy diets for your glider, I seriously suggest switching to one of them *ASAP*, especially if he's lethargic. Gliders are extremely playful and when they stop playing (especially for a week), it's a very serious and immediate sign that they're unhappy/malnourished/not in good health. I personally suggest the LGRS diet because its lower in iron than the BML and seems to be the best balance between calcium and everything else. Also, if you only have one glider, you may consider getting a second one. I only have one myself, but I plan on getting him a cagemate as soon as I can because it's extremely important to their health, as they're every social animals who usually live in colonies of 8+.

you need to feed him a good diet like BML or HPW look it up on the gliderpedia, pellets are NOT a complete diet and should only be fed as a snack
