Everyone warns you that one day your glider will slip out of his/her cage - and that you should have your house well secured at all times for the eventuality. Well, the inevitable happened, and no I wasn't prepared. Lucky for me, tragedy in this case did not strike times two.

I cleaned their cage the day before, and didn't double check the doors (3). Well, one of the access doors near the top of their cage must have been loose, or open (Opps!), and they got out during the night.

Early morning, I heard the music box in the guest bathroom downstairs going off - it's activated by motion. Instead of sending my husband down to see if we had an intruder - I put my robe on to investigate.

I found Tinkerbell climbing up the shower curtain. This is the bathroom I usually play with them in, so maybe she just returned to it for more fun. Fortunately for me, she didn't fall in the open toilet bowl. I haven't been able to train my husband to close the lid!!

So, after getting her back in the cage, I went in search of Peter Pan. I checked out the laundry room, which is where the cage is, no luck. I turned back to the den, and whom should I find merrily hopping up and down on the carpet without a care - but Peter Pan - and two feet away from him, my sweet kitty was checking him out, no doubt wondering why he was out and about. Fortunately, I had fed her that night, and lord knows why she didn't think he was a fun new plaything for her to bat about - but she just was watching while I scooped him up and put him back where he belonged.

I was soooo fortunate. I felt like I didn't deserve such luck, but I knew then, that even sugar babies have a guardian angel, or two. You can bet, from now on, before I go to bed, I double check their doors, close the toilet lid, and feed the cat!
