LeelaReneeRamsey I don't think Kseb gave him an actual bath. The gliders scent gland on top of his head was all crusted over and needed cleaned. I advised Kseb on his other journal entry to use a warm damp paper towel to soften the crusty bits and help clean his scent gland. Generally speaking they don't need bath's and shouldn't be soaked with water but a lite damp "sponge bath" is sometimes needed when their fur is sticky from food or the scent gland crusts over. It won't harm them as long as you aren't using any soaps and you make sure the damp spot is hand dried thoroughly before returning the glider to the cage.

ReneeRamseyI don't understand. I have asked a few experts on Sugar Gliders and they told me that they should never get wet! Gliders clean themselves, so there is really no reason to bathe a Sugar Glider! It is VERY stressful to them, and STRESS can kill a Sugar Glider! I don't bathe my babies, they do a fine job on their own. Bathing them can cause them to lose essential oils in their fur and skin, which can be hazardous to them. Some people say you can bathe them, some say you can't. I've asked people who have been raising, and rescuing, them for 40 years, they do NOT bathe them unless they are sick and can not do it themselves. When this is the case, they use DRY shampoos made FOR GLIDERS. I am not criticizing you dear, I just don't want anything to happen to your precious little one.

Leelalol his head looks much better :D nicely done. Try to avoid using gloves if you can he will eventually get used to your hands, gloves don't help them get used to your scent and may actually make it take longer to bond and get used to your hands
