 PLEASE HELP pouch protective glider

Okay so I have had my RTMO for over a month (I have other gliders as well) and I cant stop him from being so pouch protective. It seems like anytime I disturb his sleep he crabs, and anytime I look in his pouch he crabs. I thought it was just from me being a new person to him, but whenever he's out of the pouch he's a total sweetheart. He spends just about all day everyday with me. He is alone right now, I am in the process of getting him a mate but I wanted to knock out his protectiveness first. Is there anything I should try?

i just did some research and what i have him in is an open environment pouch. he still crabs anytime i go to say hi or do anything in his cage. hes only had is for 4 days. is there anything else i should do ?

I'm not entirely sure what an open pouch is, I have him in something that sounds like it's what you're talking about. I'll upload a pic
