 Natural diet

I have decided to not opt for additional man made formula for Tinker and keep her going on fruits and youghurt including dried fruits occasionally as I met a friend whose glider is six years old and totally healthy and only needs to go to the vet for nail clipping. He gives veggies on a wile as he believes every over the counter food has some sort of perservative and a sugar glider does not get vitamin supplements or over the counter food in the jungle. He told us when he got his baby, he did not even know how to use the internet and gave all natural and did not give any extras and believe me, she looks good and active with beautiful skin and still the same colouring. He has only one glider and after 6 years, she has not self mutilated so having seen a healthy glider personally, I have decided to follow a guy who managed to keep his pet healthy without over the counter food or supplements.

It is very hard to know what a glider acts like when it is truly happy if one has only seen them in one type of scenario. It is extremely sad to hear people choose to keep their gliders single even though that has been scientifically proven to cause depression in sugar gliders, they are housed alone and used as test subjects in human anti-depressant drug trials. Gliders will behave differently without contact with their own kind exhibiting: stereotyping [including repetitive flipping, pacing, barking, running all indicators of insanity], overgrooming [which can lead to infection then to self mutilation but typically just hair loss], lack of appetite, overeating, excessive sleep, loss of sleep, and the list goes on. There is no excuse for people to keep gliders as single except for selfishness and even a glider who seems healthy to a novice owner likely has a handful of problems due to the isolation. It is wonderful that your friend feeds a wide variety, this is one of the best ways to provide many nutrients and vitamins to your glider. It is best to provide a staple that is properly balanced, much like a multi-vitamin. Do provide both vegetables and fruit because they can easily have to much sugar. I would also like to remind people their is a difference between thriving and surviving, just because she is alive does not mean she is at optimal health. I would urge you to provide a daily supplemented nectar replacement alongside your fruits and vegetables rather than yogurt. Best of luck!
