 PLEASE HELP if you can

i just found this website last night and signed up today.

i got my glider a year and a half ago because my roomate and i both really wanted a glider in our lives. the glider quickly bonded with my roomate and the two of them have always been close since. several months ago i moved out of our apartment and it didnt interfere with our glider, humphrey, or my roomate, because they had bonded.

2 days ago my roomate called me to her apartment right away. something was wrong with humphrey. her new roomate doesnt like gliders and doesnt like her to have humphrey out when she's home so their time together has decreased drastically. we thought thats why humphrey was acting so strage. he stopped self-cleaning, barely moved around, he would fall into his yogurt... after spending some time watching him we thought he might be blind.

i took him to the vet today because she had to work and found out that he is blind. he literally just went blind within the past few days. he was fine and seeing just friday night (nov 14).

i havent been involved in the gliders life very much because he mainly is her pet... but now all 3 of us are just miserable. humphrey is terrified of not being able to see and its affecting all of us. he barely moves around cause he doesnt know where he is going.. its just terrible whats happening...

any encouragement or advice is so appreciated.

Did the vet say what the cause could be? It seems like sudden onset could be diet related...but I am definitely not a vet. I would really urge you to get on the forum and post there. Lots of people don't see this section, unfortunately. Did the vet also let you know that he should really have a friend? They are colony animals and really should not live alone-especially if they aren't getting consistent quality time with someone outside the cage. He could be depressed also. :( There are members with blind gliders that do much better with other gliders as well.
