Scared of my glider

 Scared of my glider

So I have had my sugar glider for 3 years, going on 4. i love her to death but she’s super timid, doesn’t like leaving her cage, crabs and bites anytime anything gets near her pouch, and spends most of or time together trying to find an escape. Am I doing something wrong? or is this her personality? how can i become comfortable with holding her in my hand without fear of being bitten?

if your scared or uncomfortable she will sense that and then become uncomfortable as well. you need to stop being afraid and slowly start with the basics. hand feeding her when in she's in her cage. maybe even trying to get her into a bonding pouch. what really helped me and my girl was purchasing a bonding tent. she didn't even crab at me the first time we went in there, and now I can walk around with her on my shoulder around the house. and I haven't even had her for 2 months!

I get live mealworms from petsmart. that is a treat glider will do extra things for. dried mealworms can be got at bird feed part of store like walmart. dried are also treats that gliders very much like. I would get a small dark glider safe room and sit with her 1-2 hours a night (as much as possible) feed her a few treats, give her a few toys, things to explore, like dollhouse. we had one glider that was a real biter, worked long and hard, got her somewhat tame before she passed, we think she was older.
