Ok, I really don't know if the branch is safe but I would tend to think that it isn't. In the same family as "poison sumac?" and that is a skin irritant so I think I would steer clear of that type of branch. There are some lists of safe woods for your glider, but offhand I don't know which site they are on. I have heard it is good if you put the branch in the oven for a bit to kill off any little critters that may be living in the wood. As for the bedding. My cage is about a foot off the floor and all I use is newspaper. Works fine for me and I really don't notice any smell if I change it often. hope this helps
