Well, it's sort of a long story, but I'll give you the quick version, 'k? :) Basically what happened was, I spent a LOT of time searching for a glider in my area. I finally found one a few hours away, with a breeder who was USDA licensed and had a little girl and a little boy ready for adoption. I wanted the girl! Soooo, I worked it out to adopt the little baby girl from him. I got there, and she was just adorable.... and she was sweet and didn't seem to mind my holding her! So of course, I was in love. :) I took her home, had her set up in a great, cozy little cage, and I spent as much time with her as I could. She was just PERFECT-- really sweet, and did all her sleeping in my pocket or in a pouch on me. Well, I noticed that she didn't seem to be eating, and didn't seem to know how to use the water bottle. So I started feeding her Leadbeater's Mix and baby food through an eyedropper, but she would still never eat more than a couple of bites at a time. I was worried, and I made an appointment with a good exotic animal vet here (which actually happens to be one of my usual vets-- I was lucky there!) for as soon as possible-- a few days away. She was also having diarrhea, and I had to give her water myself every couple hours to make sure she got enough. She was pretty lively the first couple nights, be afterwards, she seemed to get more lethargic-- I think because of the lack of food she was getting. She was even sleeping in a pouch on the bottom of her cage, not going to the top. I did EVERYTHING I could for her... then one morning I went to feed her, and my boyfriend was standing there waiting to tell me... she'd died. I discovered that she was too young to have even been weaned. I would estimate that she was probably only about 2 weeks OOP. Anyway, I went through a LOT of crap with the breeders. First of all, I told my story here, and they got VERY PO'd, calling it slander and all kinds of things. But you can imagine how upset I was. She died after I'd had her for only FOUR days, and I'd gone to every measure I could to take care of her... not to mention that her vet appointment was one day away. But I wasn't just sad, I was angry. I mean, I did EVERYTHING in my power, and she still didn't live. We talked to the breeders, trying to get some kind of compensation. They refused any sort of refund, but said they *might* be able to get me a new glider, but they didn't know how long it would be, or who they would get it from. I said "no way"! So I went through more and more and more crap with them... finally, on this board, they said they would give me a refund. I have NEVER received it, and it has been months. I even bought food from them that was supposed to be shipped to me, but it never even came. I won't post their names here... if you're concerned about it, I can e-mail them to you personally, okay? I live in Topeka, Kansas, and the breeders are located in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. Well, that's pretty much my story. You said it sounded like it might have been similar to something that happened to you-- if it is, my heart really goes out to you, because it's a horrible thing to have happen. Well, thanks for listening! And feel free to post your story... it's a friendly bunch here :)
