I had a similar situation with my glider. A piece of string got wrapped around his pinky toe and it swelled up. I took him to the vet, and it turned out that the tissue in the tip of his toe had died from lack of blood flow, so the tip of his digit had to be amputated. But, it hasn't slowed him down a bit. So, just in case your glider has to go though something similar, don't worry. He'll be fine. :-)
