First of all, 5 weeks to WAY TOO EARLY for him to be separated from his mom to be sold to new owner.
But, now that you have him, this is what I would do. Eventhough he is crabbing at you, he can't do alot of damage (as in biting) at this age, so I would go ahead and pick him up ALOT and just pet him and talk very soothingly to him. Needless to say, he is terrified at being separated from his mom so early and needs ALOT of loving attention. He may think he is all big and bad,but he's not. He's just scared to death.
Use a licky treat on your finger for additional security. By the way, how is his appetite? He should really still be on mother's milk, but if he's eating he should be fine.
Please, please repost and let me know how he's doing.
I have an 8 week oop joey myself and his mom is just now weaning him.
