I also give my little Mee'sa baby food on occasion, and have had the same problem with the "crusties."
Thinking about what you wrote today, I thought of an idea that you could try; could you freeze the baby food first in a covered ice tray, then it would slowly thaw. That might slow the crust forming on the top for a longer period.
I figured I was going to give it a try also. And will let you know if it works a little better.
Other wise you could always save the baby food for "hand feedings." Mee'sa really enjoys being hand feed, which also gives me the chance to bond with her even more.

Also, have you tried the new Smoothy Baby Juice (no sugar added) that they have come out with?? Has Calcium from yogurt, as well as protien. Plus it comes in several different flavors!!

: i put baby food cereal (comes in the little jars) out for my guys to snack on during the day, I put it in the cage about 5:00 am . they eat it up by the end of the day but there is usually a little layer of film on the top after a few hours. does this go bad before i get it out? i use a third of the jar at a time. mixed cereal, rice cereal or oatmeal (all have some kind of fruit in them). i feel this is good for them cos of all the vitamins and roughage and they aren't picky about them.
