Subject: 1st Day, What to do?

I have just gotten my wife her first Sugar Glider, and although we spent a lot of time researching what to expect long term I don't really have any experience. My wife is the primary care provider, and she is a little timid as the Glider we have gotten is seemingly pretty scared, and far from tame. The breeder that sold her to me earlier today said she was 7 weeks out of the pouch, however from some of the things he said I don't know if I can trust that that time frame is accurate.

My question is what is the proper way to handle the first few days. She jumped from my wifes hand and tried, very hard, to get away. How should this be handled not to upset the Glider? How soon should she try to handle her. Is it a good idea for us both to handle her or should it be my wife only? As you can see I have no specific question, only general wonderings.

I have a basic knowledge of care and feeding (from books)however like anything in life there is no substitute for experience, and I assume you have that. So if you can help I'd appreciate it

Thanks in advance
