We have 2 gliders, my suggestions would be first it will take time for your glider to get use to it's new home, different noises, scents etc. The first important thing that has to happen is that your glider has to gain your trust, it is a good idea for only your wife to work with it until it learns to trust her, she should hand feed it everynight, it may bite her hand, they all go through the biting stage, it is normal...as they are still babies. Talk to it as you are feeding it, so that it will get use to her voice, if you have a pouch put the glider in it during the day, and carry it around with you, that way it will get use to your scent, your voice etc, that is part of the bonding process. It takes these little guys a long time to trust you, it takes a lot of patience, time & love, but if you are consistent & spend time with them everyday they will come around. It sometimes takes months before the glider is well bonded to you, once it starts to trust your wife then you can introduce it to others. It would be a good idea if you talk to it also so that it will get use to your voice also. Try not to get discouraged when it bites & crabs at you....it will get better...the key is time & patience...the end result will be well worth it, for they are precious and a lot of fun to watch. Gliders really do not like to be picked up, we seem like giants to them, they get stressed easily, once they gain your trust(getting use to your hand going in their cage when you hand feed them)eventually they will come to you, it needs to be on their terms, and again this will take time. We have had our gliders for 4 months, & they are really just getting to the point to where now when we open their cage they jump right to us, we have worked hard with them, it is well worth it, they are now bonded to us, & we really enjoy them very much!I hope I have helped somewhat & not confused you. If you have any questions & I can help in any way please feel free to write back to me, I check this site everyday.
