Good morning!
I just feel like sharing today.
I adore my gliders! They're each so different. Thor is my timid glider, adopted from a nice lady who just didn't know how to handle him and hoped being part of a colony would "calm him down". He's really come so far! He still doesn't come out of the cage to play, except for once in a while. He pays attention, though....
This morning I had his three cage mates out, and just FYI it had been a couple days because I've been sick. So the other three leapt out of the cage with vigor! Because I hadn't played with them in a couple days I felt generous with the treats. Well, Thor could certainly hear them crunching on Cheerios and popped his head out of his pouch. He got out of the pouch to sit on the perch and looked straight at me like, "what about me, mom?" Lol! Love that little guy! So I walked over to the cage and he met me at the door. I gave him his treats and he went back into the pouch. A few minutes later when Gimli found the meal worms I again felt I had some making up to do, and opened that treat jar. Pop! There's Thor's head out of the pouch again. I made sure to give him his share. He's such a pleasure to have!

Hey, TJones. Sorry to hear that you've been sick! I know it's tough when you don't have time for the fuzzbutts. You'll find some time to play as soon as you can! I'm sure you give them lots of treats and sweet talk in the meanwhile. My Gimli overgrooms the same as Lulu, although I don't know why. The bald spots com and go for no reason I can figure out. I suppose he's just a worrier. It was nice to hear from you, and I hope you're feeling better!

Cute story, thanks for sharing.

I have not had much playtime with my trio for quite awhile, yet again. Between my classes and then being sick. I am hoping since my biggest classes are done, and I will be over this cold in a few days, I'll be able to resume a play routine with them. I can tell they need it, and want it. My Lulu, who is an "over-groomer" and currently has bald patches over her eyes again. I notice that after a lengthy stint of regular out of play time, they start to grow back, then she resorts back to over-grooming when schedule is interrupted for a length of time.

Yes! That describes him perfectly. I'm just so happy that he is happy! And it cracks me up when his little head pops up at the sound of happy crunching! I just love each of their unique personalities! He's also last to eat at night. Gimli and Guenevere are the foragers. Not sure what Clare Bear's told is though. What are some other jobs?

Gmorning Kferg

What a great update Sounds like Thor is your sentinel of the colony, his job is to stay in or near the pouch watching over his colony They don't usually play a whole lot or use the wheel as much as their colony members. It's fascinating to me how much their jobs within the colony reflects in their behaviors..

I used to think my Simon was my shy guy, even in out of cage time he was and still is content to just sit on my shoulder and watch over Leela and Nicky.

I used to think he just didn't know how to play or he was to mature to be playful.

Now I've learned that's not it at all, his job is to guard the nest and his colony and he will do that even when he's not in the cage, he is my sentinel.

He's not shy, he's just doing his job. That's also why when Leela or Nicky escape the cage, Simon alerts me ( I used to think he was just a snitch ) He's doing his job, he is concerned that his cage mates are out and about and wants them returned to the cage where he can keep a watchful eye on them. I can literally leave all 4 doors of the cage wide open and he will not come out and explore.

And yes, we must not forget to reward our little watch dogs with treats especially when they take their jobs so seriously most of the time.

I'm glad things are going so well for yall
