Lets discuss PETA here and not hi-jack Ed's post.

My dislike for PETA comes from personal experiences. I used to show my dogs - and PETA people showed up at the dog shows many times over the 11 years I was on the road.

I was at a dog show in Kansas City, MO - and they came all three days of the show. The first day, the pulled the fire alarms and everyone had to evacuate the building with their animals. One of my friends dogs got loose - and the show location was right by a major highway. Well, do I need to tell you what happened? It was awful...

The 2nd day - they came and let dogs out of their cages and pens. Some dogs were never seen again.

The 3rd day, they thru tear gas into the building.

Now, my questions to them are???? WHY would they go after people who love, adore and take very good care of their show dogs (who are also beloved pets) when there are PUPPY MILLS out there doing horrid things to dogs in the name of the almighty dollar???

WHY are they throwing paint on people wearing fur coats when they could go after the mink mills who breed and slaughter these beautiful animals???

And - do you know where your donations to PETA really go??? Do you know they have many members in prison that are considered Gods because they burned down laboratories that do testing on animals - killing both people and animals inside? Or other such atrocious acts???

What have they done that is GOOD - that has helped animals that are living in misery and starvation - and horrid conditions??? Cam anyone really name anything they have done???

Right now - Lucky Glider is only asking us to write letters to the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas to protest their allowing millers like PPP to sell gliders on the hotel premises. THAT is something we can do.

I hardly doubt after years and years of puppy mills, etc - PETA will do anything about PPP.

Unfortunately PETA is too radical to be able to be taken seriously which in effect hurts their cause. If they would be a little more realistic in their goals and the way in which they try to accomplish their goals, they have the potential to do some good. I think it is more about them (the people) than it really is the animals.

I will happily write letters to whomever might stop any Mill Breeders. But, I do draw the line at PETA. Too many bad things about them.

It is one thing to throw paint balls at fur coats. It is quite another to cause people's beloved pets to be hurt or killed.

I also hate PETA. I come from a wildlife rehabilitation background. And their CONSTANT releasing domestic animals plays havoc with the native wildlife! A few years back in MN, they went after a mink farm and "liberated" all the well-fed domestic animals. There were mink all over the road for months in that area, AND they introduced diseases to the wild population.

PETA does not understand what the ecosystem is, and how fragile it can be. They don't realize that even captive WILD animals need help to be able to function in the wild. You can't just release any animal and expect it to survive and thrive in the wild.
