I hate to say it, but your glider really needs to see a vet. Only a vet can say for sure what is causing the ulcer. Good luck!

I have had several glider with eye ulcers, the gliders continued to have intemittent problems with reoccurance even after successful treatment intially. It just seems to become a chronic issue. From what I was told there are some drops that shouldn't be used when an ulcer is present as it can delay healing. There is a wonderful aniaml eye specialist here in Dallas, but they are very very expensive and really don't see many gliders. When I took George in all the vets came in during the exam. It was very interesting though to see all the different tests they can do to check the eyes. George has cataracts and low pressure glacouma. They gave him some new eye drops that really helped him. I hope your glider will be ok, please let us know.

I took him to the vet the moment we saw i [quote]t. $365.00 so far, but we had them do a stain to see what the infection is. He has been on two drops and there was an oral antibiotoc but they told me to discontinue the oral as it was giving him diareah. He went bck for one re check and we will see the vet on friday as well. I just wondered if there was anything else I can do for him. I have been snuggling him and have him in a smaller cage so he cant do much climbing without my supervision. they are worried the eye could rupture. Thanks for the encouragement!
sorry I have been gone so long but my oldest child was diagnosed with cancer and i have been working lots of hours, and havent had time for myself.

Any advice and prayers are appreciated.
Thank you all!!!!

I'm so sorry to hear about your child, and I definitely understand how much of your time it consumes.

The only thing that I can think of is the obvious: avoid stress. Sorry. Maybe someone else has more experience.

An update on the glider with the infected corneal ulcer.
After several weeks of putting eye drops in every hour round the clock and then every 2 hours he is improving. we have a vet appt tomorrow at K State where we have been going.
The infection turned out to be step (non hemolytic)
The eye tests have been amazing to watch. He is being followed by a team of optomologists and the exotics team.
The meds we are using are an antibiotic eye drop and a serum made from horse blood that we drop into his eye every 2 hours.
My daughter and I have been taking turns so we can sleep a little.
I go in for surgery on the 25th so hopefully he will be better soon.
I am adding photos to my profile of the eye so you can see the progress.
