Hi,

I am a new owner of two babies and am wondering if anyone can give me feedback on this cage (it is the HQ 61818):
www.birdscomfort.com/parrot_aviary_cage.html

Any advice would be appreciated. Also, in terms of food ammounts - how much do your guys eat? I am giving them monkey biscuits and cereal, but for the main meal at night putting out a mix of fruits and veggies with some protein mixed in, but they did not seem to eat that much of it. They are 9 and 14 weeks old. I gave them 3/4 of a cup of the mixture and most of it was still there in the morning, am i giving them too much?
Also at what age do they reach their full grown size?
Thank you to anyone who responds - hugely appreciated!

The hexagonal cages look nice on paper, but they often tend to be more than you bargained for such that they wont fit out any door for cleaning, they take up more space in the room since they arent square. The best cage in my mind is a rectangle that fits nicely against the wall and is longer than it is deep and goes from floor to ceiling, no stand. I think the tower cages are popular because of their good use of space. You can find the same or better cu inch in a rectangular format and it is still easy to handle.

This hexagonal cage with 18" x 48" panels calculates out to around 37,584 cu in of internal space.

The popular Exel Large Tower at 30" x 18" x 52" calculates out to 28,080 cu in.

The Exel Extra-Large Tower at 30" x 30" x 52" comes out to 46,800 cu in.

Use the internal cage measurements to calculate CUIN and compare possible cages and then price and usability.

The hex cages are certainly prettier than the rectangular ones. But most owners who get tham are truly sorry. They are difficult to clean and there is nothing to hang toys, pouches, etc. on.

Like Kazko said, the rectangular cages are much easier on us owners.

Mariannao, thank you for coming here for advice, your babies will love your for it! :)

As far as your diet it sounds like you need to get them on a sturdy accepted diet. Some popular ones used here include the LGRS suggie soup, BML, HPW, pracilla's, candy's blended diet and a few others. People can give you their opinions on which one is best but in the end YOU are the one who feeds it to your little loved ones.

I was in your shoes a few months ago, and I found it helpful to go to some of these sites and read about the ingredients and the logic behind the many diets.

Hope this helps,
