I'm sorry but after reading this post I actually made a point of burying my face in the fur of all 4 of mine, 2NM, 2F...and I can honestly say there was NO odor,...not even the slight musky scent I have smelled on them when I first got them.
I can smell the slight muskieness when I am near their cage, especially when they all get up at the same time and go potty but it is not an offensively strong odor.
So as I said before and others have also mentioned, you may want to really look at the diet...too many insects or kinds of insects will make them have a stronger odor.
keep the cage clean and the pouches, but with a non-nuetered male, #1 he's going to have a stronger odor. #2 you can attempt to wash it away but he's only going to mark his territory up even moreso...it's his instinct...it lets other males know this is HIS territory. I know you know that, we all know how males animals work so while I know while we would love to give you some magic answer to eliminate the odor there really isn't one other than getting him neutered. If you absolutely are not going to do that then we can only suggest you get used to the odor cuz it's not going to go away. Sorry.
