Hey guys... im not sure if my gliders are fighting or not...
They play around me all the time. No crabbing or anything. They play together aswell and nothing..

However when it comes time to sleep or getting into the wheel they keep making this screaming noise. Only the female does this.
A short screech type thing. Sometimes kind of like a baby crying.

I run to the cage and everything is normal. I figure the male bites the female or she somehow gets scared? She is very pouch protective.

They mated 3 days ago and the male hasnt shown interest anymore so its not or at least I dont think is mating behavior anymore. She was doing similar noises during mating however.

Im confused on what to do. I feel like I should separate them for a while and ive done it for a day when I thought they were really fighting and they seemed to really miss eachother.

Why do they keep "fighting" and then not fighting... maybe overgrooming by the male? He might be too rough? If so what do I do? Spray bitter apple on her lol...
Im so confused this is really weird.

I would youtube search sugar glider sounds and LISTEN CLOSELY to all the sounds and descriptions of them. However! all gliders like people have slightly different sounds and accents so not all sounds will match perfectly, but will give you an idea of what kinda conversations they are having lol hope that helps.

I would leave them together and keep an eye on them as far as checking them thoroughly for any bite marks/wounds.

As long as they are not injuring each other. If they ball up and roll around biting each other inflicting wounds...then I would separate them immediately.

Well they dont technically curl up in a ball.. they sort of did once but they were in their bed so it was a adjusting/squabbble type thing. Lasted 2 seconds and they stopped on their own.

They dont fight per se.. they just kind of bite as they play maybe?

I can never see exactly what happens because they never do it when im watching. Its like they know not to fight when im there.. like little children with their parents lol

Im just worried that she will reject any possible joeys due to stress?
Im not bonded well enough to check everywhere but I cant see any wounds from what I can tell.

The male doesnt have any wounds for sure. I checked everywhere.

Do you guys think theyre just playing?

I think they are establishing who's the boss.

Separating them if they are bonded would be stressful too, and she needs the males help with raising the joey(s).

If they are sleeping in the same pouch and not inflicting wounds I would just leave them to settle their rank.

I would make sure they have a safe wheel and toys to keep them busy too, like a a few foraging toys with hidden snacks and some reset toys for them to knock around.

They could be bored and annoying each other with excessive(or overly aggressively)grooming in the pouch besides just the mating.
