Hello everyone. So I have been medicating my sugar glider with only half of a tail with an antibiotic from my vet. I just realised I left the cap open all night (UGGHH). Will this effect the medication? Also, it is almost gone. The vet charged me a high price for a tiny amount of antibiotics...is there a substitute antibiotic I can use from my drug store? The medicine I have now is labeled Baytril (enrofloxacin)...

Never substitute a medication. There is no way to know the dosage etc. Antibiotics are usually effected more by temperature rather than being exposed to room temperature air accidentally. I would think (not expert) that in that amount of time the antibiotic should not have been compromised. Especially since you are nearly done with the course. In the pictures it looks like the wound is healing as it should be. Just keep watching and waiting to see what happens when the scab falls off. It may be best to put a call in to your vet to ask about the antibiotic being left open, but with all of the (myriad) of experience I've had with them...I feel it should be ok.

I fully agree with Blue. Do not substitute medications. Baytril is a really good antibiotic, but is very pricey. I believe the liquid is light sensitive (not 100% sure), but if you just left it open overnight (in the dark) I don't think that I would worry too much.
