The girls have never left the house with me and when I started thinking about them coming up to having a well check visit at the vet I figured I would take advantage of having the office to myself for a few days. (Boss man is not understanding and I wouldn't even attempt to bring them if he were there). I let them sleep and came home on my lunch hour and popped them in their travel pouch while they were drowsy. Got them snuggled and back to sleep and then took them to the office. My office is quiet...pin drop quiet. They did very well. I even made a quick stop at the grocery store on my way home. In all they spent four hours out and about. Came home and unzipped them so they could crawl back into their cage pouch. Maeve (true to her nature) hopped right out and into the pouch. My sleepy head Lisle had to be coaxed out of the travel pouch. She was all laid back enjoying a nap. I just scooped her up and she was belly up in my palm just like, hey...what's up...oh, bed.

I just want them to get out a little more on outings that are not stressful so that they don't associate the only time they travel it is to go to the vet for prodding and poking.

That is so great! Wish mine were better about it!

I have never taken Annie out, expect the vet when we got her. In 2 weeks we are taking a road trip to Maine and stressing so much. She HATES the bonding pouch. I am buying the weekender tote from The Pampered Glider and in tent time been getting her a little more used to the bonding pouch. She is very crabby and I'm so worried about this! But I think over the next week, I'll try venturing out with her. Trigger could care less and just goes with the flow, so I am hoping maybe he will rub off on her!!

I wish I had another option then bringing them to Maine, but we are going with my husbands entire family, so no one around to look after them and my mom lives an hour away. I was thinking of leaving them with her, but either way they will be stressed, so I figure it's better to be with us then at my moms! :/

I've thought about the possibility of traveling with them in the distant future. If we were to take a trip that lasted longer than a week I think it would be a necessity, but their needs would be considered in our destination plans, etc.

Thankfully I have not only a good friend that I can depend on in emergencies (had to stay at a hospital 45 minutes from home for several days with my son earlier this year), but I also have a woman that manages the local ASPCA and does pet sitting for me. She charges about $20ish a day to take care of our furry family...although she hasn't watched the gliders yet. We'll be taking a short vacation in a couple weeks so I'll be bringing her up to speed...but, I'm not overly concerned about them being alone for just a few days.

You are lucky you have those options! New Jersey doesn't have many options for Gliders!! She actually was in the bonding pouch for a while yesterday and did ok. And by ok she lasted about 20 minutes before she got crabby lol

We are staying in our own, private cabin with a full kitchen. So I figure it will be quiet and we won't have a problem fixing their dinner every night. Plus I go crazy if I'm away from them for a night! Let alone a week! Lol :)
