Hello all,
I'm concerned my young female glider may have a cold or respiratory infection. I've been keeping a close eye on her, because I recently adopted a neutered male I plan to introduce to her soon, after the quarantine period. He looks fine, and in fact he saw a vet shortly before I purchased him. I've noticed that she sneezes more often than he does (if he is sneezing a couple of times a day, she is sneezing a couple of times an hour). She also makes noises in the morning that sound like a clearing of the throat or perhaps a cough. She does this maybe twice or three times. These are my first gliders, and I was wondering if this is normal or whether I should take her to a vet? The vets in my area have very little glider experience and I am trying to weigh the stress of a visit for her and the expense vs. the possibility that she may have a cold or respiratory infection. She is petite, but her appetite is good and she has tons of energy. Her breathing is not labored and I don't hear any abnormal breath sounds at all except for her occasional sneezing. Please advise whether I should take her in.
Thanks!

I think you should act sooner than later. The labored breathing, etc. is going to be toward the end of being able to get her effective treatment in time. Waiting will make things worse.

Even if the vet has SOME glider experience he should be able to look up (with your prodding) the correct dosage of an antibiotic to clear the infection. I have had these symptoms from a rescue glider, he was under weight, unfortunately it did not turn out well for him.

You're being vigilant in noticing and getting her to a vet. Gliders hide their illnesses for as long as possible. A natural defense in the wild to not seem more like prey than their tiny bodies already suggest.

Best of luck. Keep us updated!!!
