Hi, new owner here in Las Vegas. Obviously it's very dry here year round...would it be a good idea to keep a humidifier running in the room?

Hey I live in Nevada too, I've never heard of humidity being an issue for sugar gliders, I just looked it up and didn't find much. I already have a humidifier in my room for me anyways (but I don't have my sugar gliders yet). If your worried I don't think it would hurt to have a humidifier on in the same room, they do live in the trees in Australia in the wild.

We have very dry air where I live, too. In the winter when we use the central heat I put my humidifier in the glider room just to be safe. Super dry air can cause the fur to "crack" a bit. It isn't harmful for the fur, but it does make it look a little messier than the normal sleek coat.

The bigger issue is too dry air can cause their ears to chap. Their ears are so paperthin any damage to them can make the edges dry out too much, become brittle and corrode a bit.

i don't know about my gliders, but for me my skin gets dried out in the winter months like crazy. i found that something as simple as getting a fish tank and a few house plants puts enough moisture in the air that i don't have to worry about dry skin. at least in my own house.
