I'm trying to use a diet that gliders will like and i can keep using daily. i made the hpw and i keep it frozen and is is susposed to melt when you put it in there dish? i would think it would but it says to add veggies or fruit but they dont like that stuff added in with it the eat up the hpw and leave the rest. I made before i started this stuff i made the fruit cube with the yogurt and fruits and blened them and put them in ice cube trays, and they loved that for id say a week eat it to nothing and once i started the hpw they wont touch the fruit cubes. I'm just concerned alittle cuz the hpw doesnt look like a meal to me more like a drink so i don't see how its food for them. looks like food before it melts but then melts. If you guys have anyother foods that gliders love id like that. I havent tried the bml and not sure if they would like that or not. I just made some chicken carrots and eggs and mix in the calcium and vitamins and there eating that now, just they like one think one week then the next they don't id like to get food sugestions that they would love. There weird about carrots they dont like cooked carrots but like them cold, otherwise they wont eat them. but anyways thanks for any help you could give.

HPW is your protein source for you diet, so they need veggies and fruits to eat with the HPW. The same goes for BML. I don't recommend changing to BML if they already like HPW, you would only be swapping one protein for another.

If they aren't eating the fruits and veggies then you need to try putting the fruits and veggies in the cage only. And if they eat them then put the HPW in. They need to be taught that they have to eat all of their foods, not just one. Constantly swapping them out doesn't teach them that. It's just like a child, you can't cater to them. They learn to be picky because they know you will change what is in their cage because they don't want to eat it.
They will eat when they are hungry, they won't starve.

I literally mash everything together and then mix really well. That's the only way my girls will eat their veggies, although they LOVE carrots and like corn pretty ok.
But if I don't mash and mix, they would only touch their fruits.
It was also suggested on (I THINK) Suz' Sugar Gliders page to put 100% apple juice (NOTHING added) or the banana yogurt juice from Gerber in the mixture. I put like one DROP, maybe two, so the 4oz bottle lasts a LONG time.

Good luck!

i make Dahlia's fruit and veggie relishes. I take one cube of fruit and one of veggie, i put the hpw on top, let it all thaw out, mix it together and feed it to them. They love it. It took some time to realize they prefer it all blended together. I also have to blend the fruits and veggies or they don't eat them.

My girls will only eat their veggies in their smoothie. Thanks to Dahlia's recipes I found a way that worked and added calcium-add a bit of yogurt and fortified orange juice to the veggie smoothie. Use the diet calculator under resources and nutrition. My girls do not like their fruit mashed up and prefer whole chunks of fruit, but if they won't do that mix it into their veggie smoothie!

I feed HPW and I use Dahlias fruit and veggie recipes. Mine love it all! You just have to try not to feed the same thing for too long. I like to use a different fruit or veggie recipe each night.

And don't worry about the HPW being melted. Gliders are sap suckers in the wild!
