I am hearing some information about giving Gatorade to your gliders, I'm curious if I should mix it with their water and if so how much. and also any info about what I should be feeding them as a whole would be appreciated, I've looked all over the place and received lots of different information and wanna hear from happy owners.

WintersSong Fuzzy Wuzzy 1417 Posts Gatorade, nope. No need to feed it, they do just fine with water. In my opinion, they shouldn't have anything mixed in with their water. Food in general, there's a lot of different diets available, you just need to do the research and pick one that your gliders will eat, and that you feel comfortable feeding them. Some popular choices are LGRS, HPW, BML, Priscilla's Diet, the Blended Diet, BLG's Mix and Match diet.... General rule: pre-packaged diets should be avoided. zombiedustin Starting Member 6 Posts ahh I have a question about the diets, when you make them how should you store them (freezing or fridge)? Megs06 BANNED_ACCOUNT USA 1 Posts I give my girls water with a little pedialyte mixed in to ensure they're hydrated, which is something the vet told me was ok to do. She said to avoid any other 'drinks/mixtures' for the water. Avoid 'pre made' foods like Gliderade or something like that; anything of the pellet 'fam' should be avoided. I've HEARD cat and dog food are HUGE nono's, so I don't even dabble in that. I feed my girls the BML diet with 'fresh' fruits and veggies (which are kept in separate containers, already chopped, in the freezer). To avoid freezer burn in the container the veggies are in I place saran wrap on top of the veggies (not the container). SugarPoi Glider USA 138 Posts I am a relatively new owner myself, but what I have found works well is to make a "smoothie" (Mine was spinach and other greens, oatmeal, some low fat chicken baby food with no onion, random fruit and veggies, orange juice fortified with calcium and vitamin d, some shrimp, and a couple hard boiled eggs) and I poured that into 2 ice trays and froze it. So I give them one of those smoothie cubes and some fresh chopped fruits and veggies along with a random protein each day. Sometimes it is shrimp, sometimes egg, sometimes mealworms and crickets. They love all the food I give em, my babies aren't picky :) SugarPoi Glider USA 138 Posts WintersSong: www.sugarglider.com/gliderpedia/index.asp?KazkosDiet
Seeing as how I got my idea off this website, perhaps it IS one of the recommended diets? My smoothie is the same shown in the video, I just added more protein so I don't have to put in supplements. And they eat bugs in the wild, so what is wrong about giving them bugs? If they get a few meal worms and a couple crickets maybe once or twice a week, how is that different from what anybody else does as a "treat"? Insects are not a protein source, they are more fat than protein. They should only be used as a treat.
