Okay for all of you who have not followed Russ and I's horrible luck, I will explain it again.
NimNim was the first glider I have ever seen. He was so tiny and I fell in love instantly. He is my friend Cammack's glider. I loved babysitting NimNim sooo much that I just had to have one of my one after about 6 months. Cammack lives about five hours away from me and I had him get me a little girl from the breeder up there (We decided to get a girl so we could breed them). So he had LeLu with NimNim for about two weeks until we could arrange to meet. When I got LeLu she was incredibily tiny and crabby! I have had LeLu for a long time now and we have only managed to re-unite our little love birds twice now.
A couple months ago I rescued this glider from Austin that was all over the boards as being mistreated by this pet store. I brought Corbin home and he didn't like LeLu at all at first. LeLu wanted to play with him so bad but he kept attacking her. He came to his senses a little while later once he realized she was female.
He ended up raping her constantly to the point where I couldn't take it no matter how many people said it was normal. He was very violent with her and she always tried to get away from him. Corbin would violently try and keep us away from LeLu and LeLu from us. Our poor little girl would reach out to us with both hands like save me mom!
Corbin couldn't glide when I got him. His eyes were a little more on the sides of his head and he was far short of any natural intelligence. Russ and I deduced that Corbin was retarded, whether from inbreeding or miscare or natural we don't know.
We also came to the conclusion that Corbin needed to find another home. Our loyalty remains with LeLu and her happiness. We found a very sweet lady here in San Antonio that has tons of fish and birds and yes, sugar gliders. We explained to her about our conclusions of Corbin and she said she had just the thing for him. She had a boy glider whos brother died recently. His brother was his best friend and she was going to work on making him and Corbin buddys. So Corbin now lives in a happy home and LeLu is safe.
LeLu ended up being pregnant by Corbin. We had the whole controversy over whether LeLu could raise the joeys by herself or not. We decided to let her raise them on her own and have us help with the raising instead of getting another glider.
Well a month or so went by and she looked like she was going to pop.
Cammack came by and brought NimNim to stay with us. NimNim and LeLu instantly started holding hands and what looks like kissing eachother. I have always thought NimNim was her Love. NimNim was to stay with us one week.
Well, Nim ate her joeys... It was horrible but we were expecting it from LeLu since it was her first litter and the dad was retarded. I was truly dissapointed. I wanted to be a grandma sooo bad.
The day comes that Cammack is to pick NimNim up and Russ calls me as I am leaving work. He was crying when he told me NimNim was dead. Our maintenance guy came to work on our shower and left the toilet seat up. Somehow NimNim or LeLu managed to lift the door because it was locked when I left in the morning.
Russ said he woke up and found him in there. He said he tried to give the poor little guy CPR but it was too late. I had to call Cammack and tell him his best friend of year had past on and it was our fault.
We had Cammack tell us the place that he wanted him buried and took out into the hill country on one of the highest points. We felt NimNim would love to be out in the wilderness and love to be that high so he could glide forever... We found soo many reasons to blame ourselves for his death and I am still trying not to feel like I could have done something differently.
When I had got home that day the first thing I did was check on LeLu. I found it really weird that she was damp. I still think till this day that she tried to help NimNim out of the toilet...
The only thing we could do was hope and pray that LeLu would have joeys from NimNim. I am excited and blessed to know that right now LeLu has two rather large joeys in her pouch! We are so blessed to know that NimNim will live on through LeLus joeys.
I waited till Cammacks birthday of few days ago to call and tell him and I could hear him choke back tears of joy. We are expecting the joeys to come oop anyday now. I just hope LeLu will be a good mom.

This is a wonderful story Tara. I think it's so so sweet that NimNim will live on. ThankYou for sharing this with us, and I will hope for many more updates to come. Take Care, and I'll talk to you soon...

That is so sad I cried. I feel stupid now because I am at work. That is a very good story though. I'm also going to take a stab and say that you like the fifth element? Super green.

awwww!! that was such a sad story i almost cried!! im glad things started to look up for you, and im sure everything happened for a reason, though im not sure y!! lol, well, good luck!!

OMG, I am in tears. Tears of happiness at the love, sadness at the death, and then again happy for the life of the babies that will live through NimNim's little ones. How wonderful that she is having babies. Thank you so much for sharing that beautiful story. Are you going to let NimNims owner have one of the babies, or are you going to let them stay with their momma? Oh gosh that would be tough. Cant wait to hear more
