Hey, I know I just posted a thread a little bit ago, but things with Liv are just getting stranger and stranger. I'm gonna start with a week ago.

December 1: Caught Liv eating poop. It was orange and REALLY smelly. I thought it was maybe joey poop and she was simply eating the poop to keep the scent away from "predators".

December 2nd: Made a vet appointment for YESTERDAY. Didn't see anything strange happen again for a couple of days.

December 5th: Caught Liv with another piece of smelly orange poop.

December 6th: Yesterday. My vet appointment was rescheduled for tomorrow, the eighth because the vet is having a minor surgery. This is when things got a little strange. I noticed her with more poop. I also noticed that her pouch looked STRANGE. Maybe a pouch infection on top of this poop eating?

This picture was taken yesterday. Her pouch just looked sort of opened.

Last night:

Today has been strange. I noticed Liv's pouch looking weird. Now, this pic is a pic of right after she was cleaning it, explaining why it looks so wet.

Then, I got her out to clip her nails, which are in need of a serious clipping. This pic may be gross. I'm used to her pooping just a turd or two, but this weird, orangey poop was coming from her! And she kept pooping! It is solid, but very squishy.

The appointment is tomorrow at 3. I'm just looking for some insight and advice. Liv is acting alert and normal, but I know they hide illnesses well.

It is possible that she has a pouch infection - the vet can check for a problem.

As for the poop - what fruits and vegetables are you feeding? A large amount of or orange fruits and vegetables might be the cause of the color - papaya, carrots, watermelon etc can all color the poop.

the Vet will need to check for parasites as well

What diet are you feeding?

I feed HPW and lately I have been giving lots of papayas and a good amount of carrots.

Other than those two fruits, I feed apples, pears, blueberries, strawberries, spinach, apricots(when I can find them!), broccoli, sometimes avocados, pomegranates, kiwis, and other things too. It's hard to think of all the things I feed on the spot, but my babies do get a variety. I'm just worried sick about my girl.

I guess it's a good sign that she is still being very active and alert. Hopefully all goes well tomorrow.

We've had orange poops here too. Sweet potato, carrots, and papaya can give my girls orange poo. Blueberries and citrus can give them kind of squishy poo. You can always get her tested for parasites at the vet. Although, I think if she has anything, you might have to treat the whole cage, because other family members could have it too.

I don't have any experience with pouch problems, so I can't offer any help there. The poo eating would worry me too, especially since it's still going on. Poo can carry a lot of gross things, and I'd be worried about her eating something bad that's in the poo. Haven't had any experience with that though, so all I can really say is good luck at the vet.

*Hug* This sounds stressful what with the vet appointment getting moved and all. I'm sorry. :[

Parasites aren't anything to be afraid of, hon. Just diagnosed and dealt with! It isn't a big deal to treat them. Don't be afraid!

It sounds like she might have a slight pouch infection. How old is her joey?

The orange poop could just be from what you've been feeding. If she's eating a lot of carrots and papaya, that would do it. I dunno why she's eating it, however!

Ok - it might be that the joeys are sticking their big fat heads in and still nursing! LOL. They might just have her pouch stretched out. A vet can check on that.

They have VERY fat heads! Especially Felix! The last picture looks wet cause she was grooming at the time. Hopefully all of this poo eating is just something minor. Tomorrow needs to hurry.

I hope your baby is ok...I've recently found out how stressful health issues with these little guys can be. I'm fortunate that my vet is open 24 hour a day and has an exotics department, they also don't hesitate to call "my doctor" if she isn't there. Sending happy thoughts your way! Keep us posted!

I'm guessing it is diet for the poops. Gypsy does the same color shape everything poops. I never thought about it. If it were to get slimy or runny, I would worry. Often times when my daughter is trimming nails Kai will grab poop and start eating it because I think he knows it will gross her out. It does and she stops for a bit.
