Everyone at the vet's office that works there knows Rue's story and they were so happy to see his babies. The vet was excited, assistants were excited, even the lady at the desk was jumping up and down to see Rue with his little family.
I walked in, got everyone weight.
Rue: a whopping 101 grams! Lively: 78 grams (he said that she is just a little girl, but very healthy) Felix: 32 grams (4 and a half weeks oop) Baxter: 30 grams (also 4 and a half weeks)
He swabbed Liv's pouch. No infection!!! Did a fecal smear and float. NO PARASITES! Heartbeats: Good Lungs: Good Ears and mouths: good!
I'm so happy that all of my little babies are healthy! The vet also gave me an A+ in my care and socialization of them. He said he's never seen a better looking, excellent tempered group of gliders. They were surprised how I could get each one out with no crabbing and how curious they were to sniff the vet and assistants.
I'm a happy girl tonight!
He thinks Liv's poop eating is due to their recent change in diet. I've been feeding more papayas and apricots and he says that it isn't unusual to see strange behavior in mothers. He told me to just watch it and if she keeps doing it or does it more frequently of the next two weeks then to come back and he'll check her over again.
He said her pouch just looks stretched from the babies heads and these being her first joeys. He did a swab and no infections, so her pouch is healthy.
Aw, I'm glad nothing was wrong (though I'm sorry about your batty-poop-eating-glider-mom). Did you happen to ask the vet about Liv pushing the babies away? Is it just a sign of weening?
