My boyfriend and I (but mostly him) will be building our girls a PVC cage in the near future. I think we are going to use the directions from this website because I like the doors on it a lot!

glidernursery.webs.com/buildacage.htm

My question is: with the plastic mesh material can it hold a plastic shelf? I kinda want some kind of surface that doesn't have holes or anything. Lulu has a certain spot on the wooden shelf they have now that she likes to groom on. And I want somewhere to put their kitchen that is not on the floor...maybe?

From my understanding the mesh is pretty sturdy and will hold a pouch full of gliders just fine but I'm think a shelf may break it?!

Does anyone have advice?

The plastic mesh is probably not strong enough to attach a shelf to.

You could plan your frame so that there are PVC pipes located where you would like to attach a shelf. The shelf could be positioned so it is sitting on the PVC pipe and secured with a nut and bolt through the shelf and through the pipe.

this is the cage I built... six feet wide high and 34 deep. Person portal on one end, feeding door on the other end. I agree the mesh is a little light weight to hang much from. Make sure you put a pipe where you want support.
Happy Landings!
