I just bought this little girl, but I'm confused about something. I'm afraid to ask the seller cause I don't want to sound stupid for not knowing lol Penelope is a female TPM that is 100% creme het and 66% leu het. How can she be 100% yet 66%? I'm not really sure how that works lol

I know nothing about genetics, but your baby sure is cute and I like the fleece pattern, too! Thanks for the pics!

I am not sure what TPM stands for.

She appears to be a Leucistic glider - which would mean she actually carries two recessive genes for the leucistic coloration.

Het is short for Heterozygos or - one gene for a recessive trait that requires two of the genes for the coloration to appear.

The Leucistic and Cremino colors are different genes. If she is 100% Cremino het then ONE of her parents is a cremino so she would have to receive one copy of the recessive gene from that parent. 100% means she definitely has the gene.

I am not seeing any red coloration in her eyes which is part of the Cremino coloration - often Cremino hets have dark crimson eyes indicating they do carry the trait.

The 66% is a probablity that she carrys a specific recessive gene because both of her parents are a het for that trait. It is not a guarantee that she actually carries that trait - unless she is bred and produces a joey with that coloration which means she did have the gene - then she would be considered "Proven" and identified as 100% het - because you know she has the recessive gene.

Do you have her lineage - information on her parents and grand parents? If they are listed in The PetGlider Database you could look up her ancestors and see where the likelyhood of the cremino and lecustic genes come from.

When I looked up what TPM was it means True Platinum Mosaic and no I haven't got any information on the parents, I could probably ask though.

She's gorgeous.

I've been looking at her and trying to figure out where they came up with true platinum mosaic. She has a tiny bit of spotting on her ears and possibly a ringed tail (from the first pic). She has her stripe but the platinum coloring is minimal and is closer to cremino. I wonder if the 'mosaic' is referring to the mixture of the light coloration's? I've only had or have seen mosaics in the dark/light patterns.

I won't be getting her till March :( But once I do maybe I can take some better pics and see. I dunno if I'm the only one who gets this curious about their gliders haha
