So I've been trying to find my babies their Papaya since I'm running out of my batch of frozen papaya n cantaloupe. I couldn't find it in the grocery stores so I went to one of the farmer's markets in town and the let me know there is like a nationwide recall on it in the US because of a salmonella outbreak! Like 200 people have become sick and one has died! frown

I guess I will go with mango or some cucumber, maybe just more apple.
I got papaya 2 weeks ago, hopefully by the time I need it again the recall will be over.

And good question about dried papaya. It didn't even occur to me that dried papaya could be affected. I'm not sure of the answer but I suppose much of it depends on where the papaya is from. After doing some research, it looks like the worst "culprits" are Maradol papayas from Mexico. Just to be on the safe side though, I would probably avoid it until you're sure it's ok.
