Hi everyone!
I'm close to adopting two male sugar gliders (both will be nuetuered) very soon. I get regular updates and it appears one males eye is a little "swollen"? I'm not sure what word to use but the eye isn't open fully. A small amount of fur is missing as well. Its been about a month and its slightly improved. The person tells me it's because the mother is agitated and overgrooming them. Is this normal?
I know things happen and they have their own way. Just wanted to learn more about this, thank you! (:

where is the patch at? if it is on top of his head that is completely normal for unneutered males to have. as for the overgrooming, if the unneutered males are together, they can get territorial and perhaps hurt each other. hope i helped =)

Thank you for the reply!
They are joeys and about 9 weeks. The breeder says it's from the mother because they were to rough with nursing

it's not "abnormal" for the mom AND dad to over groom a joey there are probably a few reasons this can happen.

However, the eye not being open at 9 weeks oop IS abnormal which maybe why they are focusing their grooming on that area. Both eyes are typically all the way open at 10 days out of pouch, so perhaps the joey has an issue with it's eye and the breeder should take it to the vet to see if something is wrong.
