Hello, I just got my sugar gliders today, and I noticed that one of them always sleeps in his little room, but the other one was moving around and making noise all night, and when I woke up in the morning I noticed the same but the active one was going to the little room, so I gave them some fresh apples and the active one was getting closer so carefully and slow and then run away and come back again to smell my hand and take a bite of the apple, the other one got out of his little room and came to me so slowly and smelled my hand and start eating without doing anything or being careful, I tried to touch him while he was eating and he got scared and made the crabbing voice and stayed in his place.

is he sick or is he just afraid from his new home?

You are supposed to give them a good five days to adjust to their new environment before you start the bonding process. The bonding part really is a PROCESS as I have a girl I got two years ago whos JUST coming up for treats from me while the male since day one was very receptive.

Thinks to keep in mind

1) give them space at first when theyre new so you dont stress them
2) greet with a treat can happen from day one. But stay away from petting if you can unless its seems like they arent stressed (crabbing is a defense noise so he was scared and still getting adjusted) if they seem okay then go ahead
3) Glider personalities differ! Theyre their own unique person and will make sure YOU know that as well (my girl will run on her wheel all night ... my male HARDLY touches it :))

what jesselou said was good.
the behavior you write about sounds 100% normal.
gliders crab when scared to scare away the danger, I have one female that still
grabs when I touch the sleeping pouch during the day, and one male that might join
in and crab too. the other 4 never crab anymore. so LET THEM CRAB, do NOT worry
about it, but know its just them saying they are scared, and might bite if needed.

it probably WILL take MANY WEEKS OR MONTHS to get them to safely trust you, if
you continue to work with them.

Again, like jesselou says....

glider nocturnal, they will sleep all daylight time.
They will come out when dark, eat, play, LONG NAP, play, eat, LONG NAP,
then back to sleep when the sun comes up.

It is always a good Idea to take new gliders to the vet, get them checked over.
some vets are not to expensive for a checkup, some are expensive. So you can
always take him to the vet. Give you a chance to meet a glider vet.
we have one that is ok and charges $100 per glider.
We have another that is very experienced and charges $40 per visit any number
of gliders.
