My sugar glider Kodo passed away, he was 10 years old. It was really painful to watch, but I held him all night until he took his last breaths. His mate had to be put to sleep about a month earlier due to what the vet said a tumor that had grown in her jaw and was invading her brain.

Kodo passing hit me a lot harder because he seemed very healthy for his age and was doing well when I played with him despite his mate passing.

He had a hernia which I had repaired, and he had seemed to recover quite well from it, but about 2 weeks later It seemed that the hernia was back, so I took him back to the vet and he again had the hernia repaired. It was a very large hernia, leaving a large bulge on his stomach. He never seemed to recover from the 2nd hernia surgery and remained lethargy (I was hoping it was just the medication). Now I am kind of wishing I left it alone and maybe he would have lived a few more years longer... but I had the first surgery because I was afraid it would eventually cause a blockage. He really was the best sugar glider ever.I feel bad because I can tell he was in a lot of pain, and his final breaths, I couldn't believe a sugar glider could make sounds so loud with those tiny lungs. :*(

When the vet opened him up the 2nd time, she said the muscle tissue seemed abnormal, and there was a lot of scar tissue. She said the first time it appeared normal. I'm wondering if they should have send me home with an antibiotic during the first surgery....

omg im so sorry. the passing of sugar gliders can be so hard because they are so delicate that you might think that any wrong move you took could have led them to pass. I know how it feels... i had my glider, pixel, pass away suddenly at only 6 months old. I thought she was just tired because she stayed up all day... but shortly after, when i put her in the cage and got some treats, i turned around and she was dead. I hope you can recover, he looks so cute. RIP

thank you. it was very hard. Ive been around many animals when they passed but this one really hit me for some reason. I'm just glad I was with him during the process at least, but it was far too drawn out than I would have wanted and I just know it was painful.
