Hello there!

Id been using this forum for anything that i have in question on gliders! Sadly, i havent found any solution or tips on my current situation.

I adopted a pair of gliders that are both 5 months old. I notice that the female would make this "zzt zzt" sound randomly when both the male and her are in the pouch sleeping together, he may be annoying her or something im not sure.

The part im worried about are how they behave at night as they will ball up and kinda seem like fighting for a bit with the female making the same sound again. The other point is i notice the male would use his hands to grab on to the female.
But they will sleep snuggly together in their pouch at the end of the day.

Here are some points i think u guys will wanna know:

1. The male isnt neutured.
2. The size of the cage is followed by the reccomened size in this forum.
3. They do not fight for food.
4. I notice the boy seems like a biter due to him always biting on the tag of the pouch.

I would really appreciate if anyone of you can help me :) thank you for reading!

MOST likely this is the glider spittin into his hands to groom himself or the
other gliders. as long as they don't come out of the pouch bloody and bitten you
are fine.

you adopted a pair 5 months old, they have been together? you just got them?
fighting is bad but after this long they seem to fight, but with no glider getting
hurt? my male the ALPHA gus will during treat time sometimes do a quick attack. chase, or squabble with another glider, usually if they take his treat. No one gets hurt and all is ok, gus being the alpha dominant one.
without seeing them interact hard to really be positive.

1. The male isnt neutured.
get him neutered, your new to gliders and now you gonna have to figure out how to handle babies and mommies etc, plus the diet for pregants is different.
2. The size of the cage is followed by the reccomened size in this forum.
i feel a double critter nation is minimum size for 1 to 3 gliders.
3. They do not fight for food.
4. I notice the boy seems like a biter due to him always biting on the tag of the pouch.
seems like a biter? does he bite you? you only need to get your finger close to him to see if he is ok with your finger, if not he will start to crab then switch to a lunge or bite.

I would really appreciate if anyone of you can help me :) thank you for reading!

One last part, I don't know your diet you feed them, they don't fight for
food you say, but do they get enough, are they eating it all then going after
each other. I would have happy glider kibble in the cage for 3 days, then replace
with fresh. always have kibble available.
they need to be on a good diet. OHPW or critterlove or BML

Hello there!

They were a pair that were together. Yes i just got them but i asked all these bacause i have another pair of gliders (they are in a seperate cage) but they didnt behave this way. I understand that all gliders are dufferent which is why im asking all this. Im not sure if he is asserting donminance or just in heat..

yes i discussed with my partner about this and plan on getting him neutuered im contacting the vet tomorrow .

I will go look up on the cage u r talking about. thank you.

He .. idk if its bite?? Because he doesnt crab at me and bite me. He would use his hand to try to grab my finger through the cage and nip on the same place again and again really hard, so hard that it drew blood which i then pull my finger away.

And yes i realised it was a grooming sound the next day after i posted this. i was just surprised its much higher pitch than my the other pair of gliders which caused me to be worried.

From my observation its really out of the blue.
They dont chase each other.. is more like one of them just spontenously attack the other. Sometimes its when they just woke up (food has already been prepared and in the cage by then) sometimes its in the middle of the night like 5-4amand other times its in the morning where. im not sure if they're eating around that timing. I give fresh kibbles daily. I also feed them HPW, Veggies, apples and proteins.

Hello all

We made an appointment with thevetand will be visitng her on 14th July. I will take note about the shaving issue. Im sorry but i have another question which is about seprating them. Since he is always trying to mate with the female i plan to serperate the two of them up till he is done with his neuter. Since its gonna be more than 10 days. It is needed to reintroduce them? and if its needed to reintroduce on average how long will it take them to get along? Is it also possible she will reject him?

Im really hoping the neuter will make him more mellow and making the female feel so annoyed.
What should i do with my gliders?
