vepetco does carry gliders is some states so if you have one nearby you can request that they carry supplies for you and as for the internet on diets for them it is really hit or miss i know we've had our girl since november 2014 and shes our first(still working on a buddy) and the only consistent thing we've found is NOOO onions or garlic of ANY kind as for everything else start SMALL and wait a day before tryin it again if she's acting fine then it should be ok and check here too everyone's super helpful (by the way I'm on here making sure that maple syrup is ok!) oh and crickets in a box that the glider can get in n out of is awesome! just not too often(once twice a week)leela seems to have covered mostly all of it so you're off to a good start! have fun!

Leelababy puff things are usually ok as treats but there are a ton of other treats you can give them too. Yogurt drops, pine nuts, coconut flakes, meal worms, dried fruit, fresh fruit, cheerios. Yes they can eat out of the same dish, unless one is food protective if so you just divide the food in separate dishes and put them in several places around the cage. They are super smart for sure, and if one is taking a shine to you the other one will follow it's lead. It just may take her a little time to watch you interact with the braver one to see you mean her no harm. Don't worry bout 5000 questions lol we all had them we first got gliders so it's expected :) ask away though if I stop responding I fell asleep and will check back in the mornin lol

JLee518Ok thank you so much for everything I will def be talking to you again soon I have work in the am however and i have not much time left for sleep after trying to spend every chance I can with these girls! I actually turned my second bathroom into a jungle gym for them but I'm afraid they don't like it because I have to coax them out of their cage when they have full range of the whole room (which I glider proofed and made super cool for them) again thank you soooooo much you were soooo helpful and reassuring I can do this!

JLee518So what about baby puff cereal snacks... They love them so much I can't help wanting to give them some because they know I keep some in my purse for them lol they are smart considering its only been a few days now. I know I'm asking 5000 questions but, should I feed them in separate bowls or can they eat off same dish? And one is seeming to take a good liking to me and the house she runs around comes up to me when I come in the room and go to the cage but the other is so timid and doesn't seem to want human interaction and she tends to look like she shakes sometimes nothing scary just almost like a frozen scared shaking and I use the bonding ouch and everything and I feel bad for her she looks so sad

LeelaIt's all very confusing at first and I was the same way lol but it will get easier. If you let them out and have free range of your house they probably will find a hiding spot. Especially if you haven't had them long and haven't bonded with them yet. It's best to either use a small tent or glider proof bathroom or small room with little furniture in it for their play time. Personally I use the shower but many folks use tents. I've had my female for awhile and she is pretty bonded to me and will still go "exploring" if given the chance. My male never wanders off though. Until you get to know your gliders it's better to be safe and in a confined room rather than sorry and frantically looking for a hiding glider. Sorry for so may posts I'm just trying to break it up a little to make it easier to read

LeelaThe amount of staple usually depends on what recipe you chose it should say at the bottom. They typically won't "over eat" except with "treats" lol and they generally won't starve themselves either unless they are ill... So I wouldn't worry to awe full much . I believe they get 1 tablespoon fruit and 1 tablespoon veg per glider. I don't measure and usually offer to much lol but they enjoy throwing it around a little.

LeelaFoods to avoid are
pork fatty
beef fatty
rhubarb toxic
onions toxic
garlic toxic
cat nip toxic
chocolate toxic however white chocolate in small amounts is ok
raw lima beans toxic cooked or frozen lima beans are ok
to much citrus can cause diarrhea so feed in moderation including pineapple it's very acidic
fruits or veg with pits, or stones or giant seeds can be feed but like with cherries remove the pits, peaches remove the stone....
I'm probably forgetting something but that is all I can thin of right now lol

Leelalol take a deep breath so far your doing great!!Bird food is a def no no so good job getting rid of that!! this is a link to Candy's site she is a member here and she has some staple recipes that are "approved" diets. You can take a look at the ingredients of the recipes there some diets you can find most of the ingredients locally at grocery stores, and some you may have to order supplements for. It depends on which one you chose and I'm sure she can help more with that. They also will need fruits and vegies to go along with it every night. Some diets like BML require a strict fruit and veg list to be fed with it because there is a high amount of calcium in bml, the vegetables and fruit have phosphorus that balances out the calcium. This is where it can get confusing lol other diets are not as strict or limited to the types of fruits and vegies because they don't have as much calcium as bml has. The recipe Candy has on her page called GliderKids Leadbeaters Staple is almost the same as BML but the calcium isn't as much so the fruit and veg isn't as limited.
I tend to avoid grapes and raisins because of that debate lol but many feed them grapes it all comes down to personal choices. You feed them what you feel comfortable feeding them and what they will eat lol. Gliders are picky when it comes to presentation at least mine are lol somethings they like cut up very small other things they like bigger. Like blueberries they want them cut in half, melons in cubes, carrots sliced.... Just play around with it you will start to see what yours prefer. As for meats they can have cooked chicken or turkey no seasonings or butter or oil. It's easiest to boil or bake it so you don't need to add anything to it. They can also have Salmon and shrimp on occasion and they love scrambled or hard boiled eggs. Avoid canned foods except pumpkin puree' which they love. The reason no canned food is the salt content to preserve it. Frozen fruits and vegs work great.
