Stressed baby stressing me out!

 Stressed baby stressing me out!

I have one sugar glider who is extremely mean that I got already aged from a local pet store because I felt bad about his living conditions. I still don't know the official gender because the lady said he's a male but he's rather large and does not have a scent gland and either he's neutered or it's a female. I've never had a problem with Him(Thor) barking at night before, until last night. Yesterday I acquired a new baby suggie just out of pouch. I forget how many weeks but he's tiny. So far he(Loki) has been extremely good with me and my boyfriend . And actually chooses us over his seperated cage from Thor.

He did good the whole day we had him yesterday. I never once left him alone. Then when it got late and I was settling down for the night I decided it was to chilly in the room because the air vent was aimed on the cage. He has a heat rock in there but I didn't like the idea of a cold wind . So I placed his cage in the closet because it's nice and warm in there. Well the problems started there. He was crying alllllll night. Not barking, but his normal soft baby sneeze/crab noise that joeys have. Thor, who is always quiet began barking all night too..it's morning now and even though I'm holding Loki, he is still crying. What is the problem?!?

Thank you both for answering my question! I have taken out the heat rock ! Haha Loki is a bit older now and I have no problems with him now:) the sweetest sugar glider haha. He is definitely bonded to me! No more crabbing or crying! I think he was just being weaned off his mommy. I found out that Thor is indeed a female and that she was actually found in someone's garage :( poor baby.. So the lady who found her sold her to the pet store! So that could be a problem! But they are living seperately for now!! Thanks again! :)

I agree with RChurch. The heat rock could burn them and if the get to the wire it could electrocute them. If they ever act strangley than take them to the vet as they are good at hiding illness. (P.s I love there names)

Actually, take both gliders to an exotic vet because if you're wondering if Thor is female or not, and Loki, if around 4 months, can indeed, get a female pregnant. You don't want the mess of having to deal with joeys, trust me! Might sound cute but you can easily have an infestation of joeys before you know it, and then you'll be scrounging up cash trying to neuter all the males before they make EVEN MORE joeys! Not fun. So my best advice to take them both to the vet to get thoroughly checked out. :)

Ditch the heat rock, Hon! It is not safe. Not only can joeys get burned from the rock, but they can chew on the cords and get electrocuted. Instead, opt to cut up lots and lots of fleece squares (of various sizes, it doesn't matter) and put them in the joey's pouch. Also, my babies like at least a LITTLE bit of light. If it is too dark, they will bark and wake me up until I turn on the red light for them. I would take Loki to the vet to be on the safe side and make sure he is not injured, from the heat rock or otherwise.
