 inbreeding

Nobody wants to do that!!! So, I wanted some recommendations: what is the minimum amount of "distance" two animals need to have in order to be bred? is there some sort of standard that most breders consider safe? Mostly the difficulty is that many animals have a partial heritage: not a full 5 generations. I aim for my animals to be that far apart, but if that proves impossible I want to minimally respect the standard. so, what is it?

 antique cage

Sorry, I'm getting all of my questions out at once (: Is there any danger in using an antique bird cage for gliders? My primary concern is the paint. I found something that would be much prettier in my living room, is roomy and safe, but I have no way of knowing what it has been painted with.

 trios

I have always thought of gliders as "pairs". But, it seems many breeders do trios. Are there any drawbacks? And, are those the two options, or do some people do quads or more?

how do you get this glider color???

I found a picture of my dream glider on "thepetglider" website. here is the url: www.thepetglider.com/index/sugar-glider-colors/sugar-glider-colors.html It is the one labeled platinum/platinum champaigne.

I have seen other champaignes and they do not have so much white on them, more grey all over. My questions are: how is this produced (what glider colors produce this color)? And is it reproducable; meaning if you had 2 of these (or if it is a simple dominant, then if you had one and a standard) would they produce ones alot like it, or would there be tons of variation in the coloring of the joeys? I understand ethics, I am just trying to understand the genetics of this color. All input appreciated.
