I am going to purchase a large hamster ball to try out with my babies tonight. They are not bonded well enough yet to let roam through the whole house for fear that they won't come back to me so I figured it would be a good way for them to see the house and explore it and for us to see them explore around without them getting lost or running away from us. I was reading previous posts and so we'll see if our babies like or dislike it, but I think it'd be worth a shot!

I've heard that some people use them and some don't just because when they go to the bathroom it gets all over. I agree with you though, it would be really cool to just have them roam around the house. I personally want to try it also.

You also have to be careful of their feet and little toes getting caught in the slits in those types of balls .. it could really injure your furbutt, which could result in self mutilating... Just be careful..Suggies have been known to chew off their foot or toe when it is stuck in something like that.

I have tried the hamster ball, and I personally think it is not a good idea. First off, you will have to have it totally secured or your suggie will get out! And they can figure out how to get it undone in seconds. At least mine did it! And then if you are not watching very carefully, you can lose your suggie. I almost lost mine in the vents because of it! Also, they grab ahold of the holes inside of the ball, and then their little toes get run over by the stupid ball! I serioulsly would not get one!

I also tried one and they hated it, but there are people that have used them with no problem. I guess you could try letting them play in one first and see if they even like being in it before letting it go. I'd also stay very close while they are in it. You wouldn't want them running into any other pets or stairs, etc.. On the opposite side, someone did say once that there was a glider that had a piece of poo stuck in its eyelid from being in the ball and it caused a bad infection.

I tried one and I hated it! The poo and pee was everywhere inside the ball and all over my poor little girl! Like others said, you also take a risk of your suggie getting its toes or feet caught, which could cause serious injury.

OH GOODNESS!! I am so glad you guys told me so I didn't try it...I don't wanna take any chances and so I just let my babies crawl all over me in the tent and put the tent in the living room so they could look around instead of the ball. Wouldn't want our little kids getting hurt!! I'm so glad I have you guys to give me some great advice when I need it!!! Thanks everyone for looking out for our babies!

I have a medium sized hamster ball and a little girl suggie who L-O-V-E-S it. If you are afraid of the glider getting out, put a piece of tape on it so they can't pop it off. I have never had a problem with it. Really, it is the only way that my suggie gets around the house (i have two cats). Yes, you do have to clean it out, but common...when aren't you cleaning up the poop and pee of a sugar glider?? Just time it right. Let them go before you stick them in there, and all is fine. I can see where the air holes would be an issue, but if you watch after your glider I would guess you would be able to catch it before something extreme happens.

so yeah. mine loves it, never had a problem with it...but I would still keep a watchful eye on the glider when they are in it.
