I personally dont think that the gliders personalities is what matters really in this area of discussion. I think it is the person's personality that really matters. I have three kids, five chihuahua's and five adult suggies and three babies, and hubby all in one two bedroom mobile home. We are packed in here like nothing else, but the love and laughter is priceless. My parents on the other hand are not used to that kind of noise and action, so they get rather annoyed. However, my hubby and I rather enjoy the insanity. My kids, dogs, gliders, they are just my world, and they all deffinately own me. Some people are just not pet people, just like some people are not kid people or baby people. It just really depends on the person, and how much cuteness and insanity they can withstand. And as far as the number of gliders to have, like I said, I have five adults and now three babies. Love everyone of them, and just recently moved them all back into the bedroom so we can watch them at night and interact with them. Life without insanity is not worth living. I love all my babies, skin or fur, no difference. The stories that I have told about all my babies, and people just think I am nuts. Well, duh. But my life is full and enjoyable. It really just depends on the person. My opinion only now. And as for the barking, it is about the cutest thing in the world. Sometimes if I dont talk to mine before I go to bed, then about an hour later, one of them will start up. And sometimes, his brother seems to be looking for him and he starts up. It really just seems like the best thing to just watch them, and interact with them, and play, and snuggle, and just enjoy being owned by them. Good luck with ur search, hope it goes well for ya.

Kazko - I just updated where I am at -- Bradenton, Fl. I will update everything else very soon also. I had to figure out how to do it and once I tried, it was more self explanatory than I realized. I am trying to get two gliders that a woman took from a friend who was going to let them go into the wild!!!! How crazy is that??? She wants $200 for them and they are not friendly. She also admits they are in way to small of a cage. I'm trying to get her to let me take them in as rescues or at the very least, talk her down in price. According to her post, they aren't on a decent diet and she admits she doesn't know how to take care of them. I told her to go to this website and learn and warned her about not feeding them what they need. I expect they might not be in best of shape if I get them and I want to keep persueing this because it sounds like these two suggies deserve more - way more. In fact, its sad. She HAS to find them a better home because she admitted they are not for her but shes wants a canon camera or the cash in exchange. If only I can get her to realize, its more important that these gliders get proper care and they shouldn't be a money oppertunity for her. I'm glad she rescued them from her friend that was going to just let them go but she just wants a camera??? Makes me wonder if she took them to rescue them or if she took them and saw dollar signs. I'd really love to get them. We'll see how it goes. I'm not going to give up on these two if I can help it. Thank you for all your help and thoughts!

I agree with you there and I don't even have gliders yet. They remind me of babies in the literal sence. I have two children of my own and though my children are still young, they are getting more indepentant. Though they will always need me, I miss those baby years - I mean, true baby years where they depended strickly on me. Gliders remind me of babies in the sence that they rely solely on you to feed them, bond with them ect. I love the insanity in my home also and my Mom, like yours, walks in my house, TV's on, the kids are running around, she sits down on my couch and complains she has cat hair on her butt when she gets up. lol. I can't wait to get a brake from the noise and crazyness and then I actually get depressed when its quiet and I'm not busy or needed. I think I thrive off of it. Plus, I'm a stay at home Mom and my kids are in school now which has been tremendously tough for me. I like the brake I can get but I think thats what my draw is to sugar gliders, is the company I can get and give during the day while my children are gone. I know they will be sleeping but I look forward to being able to swoop them up into a bonding pouch, carry them with me, and being able to have play time with them after my kids go to sleep at night. The busier I can keep myself, the better my own well being. We joke around here because we don't plan on having anymore children and my husband says my obssesion with gliders is because I want my gliders to be my new babies. After everything I've read on here though, I get the impression thats good for gliders and they need that attention and they don't need owners who are just gonna ignore them and let them get wild. I think I'd be a good match for gliders and I hope I'm right. Thats why I've been very cautious to read about them as much as I can. I haven't wanted to go into owning any animal without doing the research - especially since they live so long. I think the biggest payoff for owning gliders compared to other small animals is the bonding you can keep with them. Thats definitely a plus.

One of mine always barks when it's dinner time. He is the early riser. Sometimes in the middle of the night but I don't usually hear it if he is barking. The other ones never do. Well I take that back the new one barks too. I love it, it is soooo cute.

My what a long tongue that is. I have never seen mine lap up something with their tongue hanging out like that. Almost as weird as their snaky genitalia.

Weird little critters.

Jinx started barking a few days ago and after 15 minutes of it i picked him up and he was still braking just less frequently. I put him back after he jumped around on me and he kept barking. I just had to go to bed with him barking.

my little guy has only barked 2 nights i think, since i've had him from right before christmas... the first night, i was sleeping on the couch in the same room cuz we had relative over, and the barking sounded like a lil puppy, and was loud enough to wake me and my parents who were in the next room. the second night he barked, as soon as i opened the door to the hallway, and light went into his room, he stopped. the whole light thing worked both times. but i also go over and talk to him for a lil bit, play with him, etc. other than that, i mainly hear him jumping around in the cage, and when he is running on the wheel. i don't hear the wheel itself, but rather the stand for the wheel rattling on the bottom of the cage bars. the noise isn't bad at all tho. definitely shouldn't deter anyone from getting gliders

Tazz doesn't bark much at all, he's only done it 2 or 3 times since I've had him.... I think once he did it for no reason and the other time or 2 he was telling me to "Hurry up Ma, I'm hungry!" When he does I usually go over, make sure he's not caught on anything and if all is well I usually just let him carry on... ^.^ I like hearing him bark, it almost sounds pleasant to me... Not quite as enjoyable as the happy noises they make when they eat something they really like tho ;p

My little guys barked only the first few days I had them. They also bark when I take them with me to my boyfriends house. I dont think they recognize the environment and want my attention. I dont hear a peep from them besides their chattering to each other all night now.
Turning on a little light did help them stop barking the first couple nights.
