myzoo52000 Super Glider VA, USA 258 Posts I personally dont think that the gliders personalities is what matters really in this area of discussion. I think it is the person's personality that really matters. I have three kids, five chihuahua's and five adult suggies and three babies, and hubby all in one two bedroom mobile home. We are packed in here like nothing else, but the love and laughter is priceless. My parents on the other hand are not used to that kind of noise and action, so they get rather annoyed. However, my hubby and I rather enjoy the insanity. My kids, dogs, gliders, they are just my world, and they all deffinately own me. Some people are just not pet people, just like some people are not kid people or baby people. It just really depends on the person, and how much cuteness and insanity they can withstand. And as far as the number of gliders to have, like I said, I have five adults and now three babies. Love everyone of them, and just recently moved them all back into the bedroom so we can watch them at night and interact with them. Life without insanity is not worth living. I love all my babies, skin or fur, no difference. The stories that I have told about all my babies, and people just think I am nuts. Well, duh. But my life is full and enjoyable. It really just depends on the person. My opinion only now. And as for the barking, it is about the cutest thing in the world. Sometimes if I dont talk to mine before I go to bed, then about an hour later, one of them will start up. And sometimes, his brother seems to be looking for him and he starts up. It really just seems like the best thing to just watch them, and interact with them, and play, and snuggle, and just enjoy being owned by them. Good luck with ur search, hope it goes well for ya. alyanne Face Hugger FL, USA 487 Posts quote: Originally posted by myzoo52000

I agree with you there and I don't even have gliders yet. They remind me of babies in the literal sence. I have two children of my own and though my children are still young, they are getting more indepentant. Though they will always need me, I miss those baby years - I mean, true baby years where they depended strickly on me. Gliders remind me of babies in the sence that they rely solely on you to feed them, bond with them ect. I love the insanity in my home also and my Mom, like yours, walks in my house, TV's on, the kids are running around, she sits down on my couch and complains she has cat hair on her butt when she gets up. lol. I can't wait to get a brake from the noise and crazyness and then I actually get depressed when its quiet and I'm not busy or needed. I think I thrive off of it. Plus, I'm a stay at home Mom and my kids are in school now which has been tremendously tough for me. I like the brake I can get but I think thats what my draw is to sugar gliders, is the company I can get and give during the day while my children are gone. I know they will be sleeping but I look forward to being able to swoop them up into a bonding pouch, carry them with me, and being able to have play time with them after my kids go to sleep at night. The busier I can keep myself, the better my own well being. We joke around here because we don't plan on having anymore children and my husband says my obssesion with gliders is because I want my gliders to be my new babies. After everything I've read on here though, I get the impression thats good for gliders and they need that attention and they don't need owners who are just gonna ignore them and let them get wild. I think I'd be a good match for gliders and I hope I'm right. Thats why I've been very cautious to read about them as much as I can. I haven't wanted to go into owning any animal without doing the research - especially since they live so long. I think the biggest payoff for owning gliders compared to other small animals is the bonding you can keep with them. Thats definitely a plus. Jinx started barking a few days ago and after 15 minutes of it i picked him up and he was still braking just less frequently. I put him back after he jumped around on me and he kept barking. I just had to go to bed with him barking. chupraki Joey 30 Posts my little guy has only barked 2 nights i think, since i've had him from right before christmas... the first night, i was sleeping on the couch in the same room cuz we had relative over, and the barking sounded like a lil puppy, and was loud enough to wake me and my parents who were in the next room. the second night he barked, as soon as i opened the door to the hallway, and light went into his room, he stopped. the whole light thing worked both times. but i also go over and talk to him for a lil bit, play with him, etc. other than that, i mainly hear him jumping around in the cage, and when he is running on the wheel. i don't hear the wheel itself, but rather the stand for the wheel rattling on the bottom of the cage bars. the noise isn't bad at all tho. definitely shouldn't deter anyone from getting gliders
