Yes - 18 x 14 x 39 inches is WAY too small. Gliders are quite hyperactive in the evening hours, and need a lot of room to move around. The height is especially important. This is my cage, and is the basic size of cage that most of us have here. (Mine is 32 x 20 x 71):

My cage is not on eBay. It is from Bird.com. Last year when I got mine it was $149 and that included shipping. Not sure what it is now.
Bird Aviantelligence Large Tower Cage

As you can see in Kyro's photo above: The Excel cage is on the left and the Bird.com cage is on the right. There are differences.

Sari--I love your cage! My husband and I are going to be making some new cages for our spoiled babies. I just want something BIGGER for them (like they're not already in big enough cages?!)

How did you make that cage? Also, where did you get a litter tray to fit it so perfectly???

Thanks Mollysmom! Well, I made my own design, but started from the directions on Kris, Babylovegliders' site. The bottom is very different. I had the base made at a metal shop (solid steele, painted) and they "threw in" the tray made out of steel as well. The metal shop fell in love with my babies (only had the rescues at the time) and decided to build the stand just for the cost of the materials. I was very lucky!

She's got a GREAT tutorial! (Thanks Kris!)

Hopingforasuggie, that is the EXACT same cage I just bought from a dealer on ebay, but I didn't get it from that particular dealer. I got it from jmexotics because they had them in white, and for five dollars cheaper. I am very pleased with the way it has turned out, and jmexotics has been wonderful in their communication. One small piece on one tiny door was damaged in the shipping, and they immediately sent me another door at no cost to me. They are the surplus ebay store for one of the big cage websites, so they follow through on their customer service. Also, you can buy a set of two of these cages from them in either color on ebay for only $150 (free shipping), and then combining them isn't that hard. You just leave one side off of each of the cages when you put them together, and then ziptie them to one another to double the size of your cage. I'm actually thinking about doing this at a later date.

If you can't afford the more expensive cages, but want your babies to have plenty of room, then this is the way to go. Either with one or with two tied together.

I'm going to try to post some pics here is a minute of my new cage so you can see what it looks like...

I have four of these cages. It is very simple, though time consuming, to attach two of them together with strong zip ties. I've had mine like that for quite awhile. BTW, lovely cage decor, Dahlia!

whoops, its jmexotics1 ... here's a link to their ebay store, as well as a link to a couple of the buyitnow deals running right now on this particular cage (they carry a LOT of different cages so don't get confused. Check the dimensions)... They seem to carry these in stock and have been selling them at this price for a long time now, so don't fret if you can't get one at the moment. They seem to have PLENTY.

link to one cage auction... 5 Level Sugar Glider Cage

These are not the only listings for this cage. They have multiple listings, plus they have this cage with a different type of stand that adds about $40 to the price. Personally though, I wouldn't go that route. The above listed auctions do come with a short roller stand that I am very pleased with. I wouldn't want the bigger stand, especially if you're planning on combining two cages. I don't think you'd be able to do that if it was on the bigger stand.

They also have this cage is the 36 inch high version for $70, but for the money I'd go ahead and get the bigger one. They also have some of the heavier duty metal cages for those people willing to spend more money.

Mollysmom, THANKS! lol! I had a blast making all those fleece toys. I made everything in there with the exception of the purple fleece pouch. That I bought from a lady on ebay along with its matching bonding pouch.

Well... HobbyLobby is running a sale right now on all their fleece! (hint hint) lol! That's where I got the fleece I used to make my set. I'll have to try to post some close ups of mine. I love the color pattern I found...

I love that fleece! Very pretty. Alas, there are no Hobby Lobby's near me here in Michigan. My daughter is driving me crazy to go to Joann's today. I need more fabric like I need another hole in the head! She has the sewing bug, too. She made my older daughter a beautiful hobo style tote bag for school, and wants to make one for herself. Hmmm, I guess I just HAVE to break down and take her there...
