Well I've had my sugar glider for a few months now and he allows me to pick him up and put him in my shirt and he will often fall asleep. Sometimes he's hyper and doesn't want to stay on mebut he usually allows me to pick him up and put him on me again. I don't like using the pouch for some reason and I like having him in my shirt. Does anyone have any tips for me? I really want to bond well and I would love for him to be attached to me like I have seen others. Any advice?Thank you.

Sounds like you are doing things right. The bonding pouch isn't a must, it's just a safety precaution. Every household is different. If you don't have other pets, or the other pets are confined somewhere when you have your glider out, then not using the pouch is probably fine. Of course, don't go outside or anything like that. Bonding pouches are more of a must when you first get your glider. Until you start building that trust it probably is good to just go ahead and use the bonding pouch, that's what it's for anyway.

Sounds like he already trusts you pretty well! Keep in mind that when he does get hyper and not want to stay on you, that doesn't mean he doesn't trust you. That's completely normal and most gliders will be this way. When they are awake, they generally want to explore and not just sit in one spot.

Just keep in mind that they all bond at different levels. Some gliders will fall asleep in your hand, some may NEVER feel comfortable with that. They all have different personalities. I have 4 and they are all at different levels of bonded. I have 1 in particular that doesn't care who you are, she will still hop right onto you and climb all over you. She just loves people. My others are more shy until they get to know you. They are all different so please just don't EXPECT that one day he will act a certain way. That would be asking too much.
