Ok So my boyfriend and I just bought a new 10 week WFB and have him in a seperate cage. Our other two gliders are in the normal cage we have for them they are about a year old. So we slowly showed him to the females and switched their pouches so they can get used to the scent. Stormy the more dominant female started to hiss and swat at the pouch he was in on the outside of the cage then tried to pull the pouch through the bars. kyo doesn't really mind him, but stormy isn't taking to him as we thought. Is it too early to introduce them. Kyo and Stormy are eating just fine, we have toys and stuff for them to play with. They are very active but i don't think they are sick or depressed. What is your advice?

he is a lot smaller then them and they may not except him till he is as big as they are....but you should do a 30 day quarantine before letting them see each other this includes vet visits start of 30 days and the end that include fecal float and smear to make sure they are free of parasites and but your 30 days may be lots lots longer because they need to be around the same size when introducing them the quarantine should be done in separate rooms also

Uhhhh yeah! No 30 day quarantine?

Ok, because the person we got the WFB from said it takes hers about 4 days up to two weeks to be ok with another glider in the cage with them. but thanks very helpful information

Sometimes introductions work instantly, other times they never work.

Before you can worry about that, you need to worry about quarantine time, and vet visits.

yeah we have an appt. with the vet this week and we do have them seperated right now, ty all, i'll post some pics for ya guys! maybe some videos too!

I know how important the quarantine is but at this point they have already been exposed to each other so the quarantine has been compromised. Now they just all need to go to the vet for the fecal float and fecal smear and then again in 30 days to make sure no one is ill. But really once they have already been put together there is no need to lecture about quarantine.

I hope someone who has experience with glider introductions does come along and answer this persons actual question. If not I'm afraid a glider might get hurt with the way she is trying to put them together already. Just telling her that she needs to do quarantine and not worry about the issue she asked for advice about is not going to help keep these gliders safe.

Just my opinion

We stress quarantine because that is important. When most people answer questions on here they do it for everyone that may read it in the future, not just the asker. That is why I stated that right now, quarantine and vet visits need to be worried about. At this point, you're right though, quarantine is useless. Vet visits need to be made. And rechecked in 30 days (at least the fecals) for EVERY glider, as they've already been exposed to one another.

Everything that I have read has said that there is no need to really worry unless the gliders are balling up to the point where you cannot separate them. Hissing at each other is fine, and normal. When I first attempted to re-intro my two after a separation period for an injury, they would "wrestle" but I was told to keep doing what I was doing so long as they weren't balling up.. Just watch closely.

That said, any further introductions should wait until the gliders are all relatively the same size, as otherwise the smaller glider could get injured. Any further introductions should also take place in a neutral territory.
