Hey guys,

Yesterday while I was on a work call - I looked over at my dog, Harley, and she was shaking. She was trying to stay standing but she collapsed and couldn't get up. We went straight to the vet. Harley went through the exam like a champ but eventually had to be sedated because she was in so much pain. We were back in the vet today for her to be put under again for x-rays and more diagnostics. So far, we know that Harley has severe degeneration of the spine. Our vet told us that this is the worst case she has seen in a large dog. It almost appears that a second layer of spine is growing from her ribs to her hips. This is not uncommon in older dogs but not to this severity. Harley also has a small liver and panels will need to be ran to be sure she can tolerate the steroids and narcotics we are currently giving her.

Harley is currently at home under light sedation while the vet's office is closed and we work on some other ideas and go back for a biopsy - as she has a mass (we hope is harmless) on her mammary glands (she was spayed many years ago and does not appear to have ever been bred - certainly not while with us.) We are in this 100% to keep Harley comfortable, healthy and happy but it is expensive.

With that said - I have posted in the classifieds section to assist with vet bills. I am not soliciting donations - I am just being MUCH more aggressive about selling the items that I have been making and selling anyway. It's quite expensive already but we know by the time we get to the next vet - it will double or more. We want to be ready with no limitations. Please view my classifieds ad and let me know if you have interest.

For anyone interested - Harley's bio:

Harley has humble beginnings. She came in through the rescue and we do not know her full history but the part we know was enough to say "this is your last home on your journey". Harley was adopted from the local Animal Control by a young guy in 2004. She was approximately 6 years old at the time. She was immaculately trained, gentle, and very well mannered but she was on death row because she looks scary. She is a pit/lab mix as far as we can tell. Ironically, she is more easygoing and loving than any other dog I have fostered or "owned".

He kept her for a few years and was called out to go to Iraq - in the end he did not come back for his dog. That is when Harley met with rescue at about the age of 9. Harley has lived with us since 2008. So we are guessing she is roughly 13 years old. We don't know if Harley was ever abused but she does duck when a hand is raised. If you are too stern with your voice - she will lay on her stomach and duck her head. If not abused, she was trained with a very heavy hand and demeanor. She has had a good life so far with us and has blended well - getting along with any dog before her, any cat, and ferrets to boot. She is a lover and never ever a fighter.

We are going to do all we can to keep her going strong - please consider our options for sale to assist.
