There's a creek right behind where we live & we get a LOT of big spiders. Are these dangerous to Suggies?

My heart is actually still racing after killing this spider. We get a lot, but this one was especially large, as you can see in comparison to the base board. :( I know we can't spray because of sugar gliders but a friend saw a smaller one and thought it looked like a brown recluse...? Maybe I can drop the suggies off with a friend then have the apartment complex spray? Idk what to do...

Wolf spider. Not poisonous or deadly. Just large and very efficient bug killers. They hunt prey without webs as well as they do with them.

Just looked up wolf spider. According to Wiki their bites can produce venom but they're not deadly...at least, not to humans. Anyone know anything about wolf spiders and sugar gliders?

I know sugar gliders EAT spiders in the wild but I don't want my babies getting sick...or bitten. :(

YUCK! LOL! Not giving them the chance. Our vet is an hour away, as there is no one closer who a) knows what a sugar glider is or b) works on them.

Well, I said not poisonous, but in truth all spiders are poisonous. But, it isn't deadly and I am not condoning feeding it to your gliders. I am simply saying they would know how to handle it if it did come near the cage. here is a link Error, missing URL. l

I am so sorry you did! I just wanted to make sure it wasn't some kind of huge brown recluse. Ugh! What a nightmare that would have been.

On the bright side, it's dead now...?

I hate spiders too. Was bitten by a black widow when I was seven years old. I now kill them all on sight. Well...that's not entirely true. They are permitted to live outside. But they put one leg in my home...SQUISH!

Thats a Wolf Spider. We have them in NC. That spider I'm not sure if it is dangerous to Suggies, but I do know someone that's Suggie died unexpectedly. They took it to the vet to have it looked at after its death. The vet found a very small red spot on its side. Turns out it was a spider bite. The vet thinks that is what caused the Suggie's death. So just FYI. I would HATE for that to happen to my Layla or anyones Suggie. =(
