I have some of the little balls that you get for cats (but make sure there is NO catnip). They love the ones with bells

I've seen people use those colorful cotton balls. I imagine they would collect odor, though.

Wiffle balls, maybe?

In mine I have wiffle balls, ping pong balls, baby rubber duckies, plastic bracelets, and I added some of those colorful cotton type balls recently. I know if yours like to chew on stuff they may pull the cotton balls apart, in which case I wouldn't use them. I bought a big bag of them so once they get messy I can just throw them out and add new ones.

When you make a ball pit...do they automatically just climb in and play in the balls or do you hide treats in there for them so they can forage? It sounds like such a neat idea I may make one for my suggs.

Hit the Dollar Store....

Plastic army men/dinosaurs/bugs
Plastic ping pong/golf balls
Barrel of Monkeys

FREE: milk/water caps. Snip the rings off the bottles and toss them in as well. Make sure you snip tho so they can't get them stuck around their necks.

Strips of fleece are good also.

This yellow/green plastic ball I got at WalMart in the Spring in their seasonal section. They work well because I can put mealies in the bottom and set it in the pit. The mealies can't crawl out and as you can see, the gliders love digging inside for the treat.

That is a really great idea! I'm going to cut up a bunch of fleece strips instead of using the colored poms because you can just wash the fleece. I had made a few fleece pom poms but never thought of that!

Those are such cute ideas! I'm going to hit the Dollar Tree tomorrow and buy a bunch of goodies and make up a ball pit. :)

I want to give our gliders some new toys and saw the ballpit idea but had a question, are marbles safe to use for the balls?

Any other cheap toy ideas? they are really tired of what they have now

I wouldn't use marbles, they would be too heavy and couldn't move around comfortably in them. You can go to the dollar store and get the ping pong balls, bracelets, and some of the rubber duckie type toys.

I got plastic dinos in the dollar spot at target for them to climb on. If you don't have barrel of monkeys get some! They love to rip them down!
