How does one prepare okra for gliders? Btw if you cannot tell, I've never eaten okra either. It's on the list of ok veggies and I thought I might try it.

I have fed okra a few times to my boys, but they have never been too interested in it. I just cut it into tiny chunks. You can buy okra fresh or frozen. Okra is REALLY sticky when frozen and thawed and when it is cooked. (It's used to thicken African dishes).

I usually just slice fresh okra and offer it raw when you cook it it's even more slimy. My female likes it my male doesn't seem to go for it to much. She might just like it because it's green and round though

My gliders love okra. They have it at once a week.

I have served it fresh - just slice the pods in about 1/2 inch pieces. I usually buy it already cut and frozen for my own ease of serving.

They usually eat all the middle out of each piece and leave the skin behind neatly draped over the cage bars - it can be hard to get off if it drys out completely.

My gliders like Okra, some more than others (I think one of my Lulu's fav).

I usually purchase the sliced frozen and it's been in the mix. I'm switching how I serve f/v combo, but it will be included about 2x week in my new plan.

On occasion for something different, I have bought fresh pod to place and let them shred it open. The girls love it, Ollie boy, not so much, or he doesn't bother with it too much.

I personally don't eat Okra, I can't say I'd ever try it either, lol.

Thanks everyone! I just like to keep the gliders happy with new things :-)
My husband bought some from the produce department so I guess I'll wash it real good and then slice it up. We'll see if anyone likes it! I had no idea it would be slimy...but my guess would be then that my gliders wouldn't eat it then! They don't like sticky or slimy things. So fresh it is!
Btw I put it on the grocery list and my husband did the shopping and came back with kale. I was like, why did you get kale? He said it was on the list....and I was like, um how'd you get kale from okra?

Haha yeah I gave them some kale and I was just saying that the gliders must have eaten it since I don't see it anywhere in the cage. So, two new things this week!
