I am 16 Yeats old and I just got my glider a week and a half ago. I've done so much research on what might be wrong with her and nothing is matching up. Please help me figure out what is wing with her and what I should do. She is very healthy looking, I don't see anything wrong with her, but she is doing a lot of sneezing throughout the day but I don't see any type of mucous coming out of her nose. She has been having loose stools for about a day and a half and I think she may have thrown up in her food (not a 100%). I feel like she is ill and have tried talking her to a vet but my parents deem to think that she's okay and looks healthy. I'm so worried and scared.. Please help me

sneezing is typically a grooming sound and perfectly normal. Runny poo could be food related depending on what ALL you are feeding her. Throwing up is NOT normal and if she has she definately needs to go see a vet.

When gliders are ill they go down hill very quickly and need medical care.

What are you feeding her ?

Make sure that you are not confusing vomiting with the bits of food they throw away. Much of their food selection they will suck and nibble on and discard the rest on the floor, a large part of why their trays should be cleaned or atleast wiped out every couple days.

But see the thing is is that she isn't cleaning herself when doing this sneeze. I'm still unsure of the vomit, I don't what it is..
I'm feeding her apples, pears, yogurt, honey and a breeders blend recipe.

But you see it wasn't chunks at all . I've seen her bits of food shes left unwanted and understand what you mean. The what I think is vomit I found in her food dish (a smoothie like texture) with a good bit of food left. She usually eats it all imediatly. She loves it. But I did add some honey in it this time cause I thought she might have had some sort of cold.

What does the respiratory infection sound like in a sugar glider. Idk if I'm hearing a popping in her breathing or not.

Figures this would all happen a week after I get her :/ poor baby ..

That diet it causing the runny poo. I would suggest start by changing the diet to a more current widely used one.

I have a new girl coming to me Thursday, she was on this diet as well and had loose poo, once she was surrendered to my Rescue lady who changed her diet her poo went back to normal. I don't know where that diet came from, who made it or why it's suddenly popping up This is the info the pet store gave the person that previously owned the girl I'm getting Thursday

I have those same papers actually haha. I've been feeding this to her sense day one and she has been having runny poop off and on , I can't help but wonder if it's a stress thing.

I need to know why she is sneezing so much tho. She's not grooming when doing this. I'm scared it's a respiratory infection. Can you tell me anything about that possibly?

it's probably not stress it's that diet you need to change it to a better one as far as her poo goes. http://www.gliderkids-diet.com/Staple-Recipes.html that's a link to some better diets and there are more out there besides those but it's late and I knew where that link was right away.

What is she doing when she sneezes or makes the popping sound ?

She could be in her pouch or on me and she'll sneeze multiple times like grooming but she won't groom herself she'll sneeze and that's that. Uhh popping, i can't really hear unless I. In a silent room and really try to listen and I'll only here it a couple times within five minutes. Is that just her mouth making that sound or should I worry about it ? But thank you got the link, I will definitely be changing her diet this week.

ok well I'm not a vet, and it's difficult to really say if there is something you should be super concerned about. Vomiting, if she did vomit is a concern.

I hear the sneeze sound a lot from my gliders and all my gliders make a soft popping sound when they are happy or content eating their fav snacks or napping and comfy.

Noises can be a sign of something being wrong, but it depends on what they are doing when they make those sounds. Noises can also be a sign of something right like she likes whatever you are doing or giving her to eat.... The context and details of whats going on when they make the sounds helps us figure out what the sounds mean. Like hissing. It can mean a bunch of things. If it's a long hiss then while going potty the glider might have a uti or constipation. If the glider is in a pouch with 4 other gliders and someone short hisses, it's like "hey get your foot out of my eye!!" or stop that!!! If it's a short his with a soft bark at the end it's kind of greeting like hhhhhiiiiiii MOM I missed you all night...

Details helps to determine what noises mean

ok I would remove the homemade heat pad if she gets that open and eats some of the dry rice it could re hydrate after she eats it and cause her tummy troubles rice will expand and a gliders tummy isn't that big to begin with. Eventually the wooden dowels or perches will need chucked they will absorb urine n start to stink other wise she should be fine until you upgrade her cage

She's not very interested in the heating pad. I warm it up before I go to sleep and set her bed on top of it. That is a scary thought tho so I think I will take it out also considering the fact that my room is finally warm enough for her being a lil baby

I do not know who designed the diet shown in the above posts but I would NOT USE IT.

First - are you keeping the ingredients that are allowed to soften over night in the refrigerator? These foods would begin to spoil after 8 hours at room temperature.

The amount of yogurt called for in this recipe is EXCESSIVE and may be what is causing your glider's loose stools.

There is not a lot of nutrients in the amount of food listed in the recipe - and the instructions to 'fill the blender with water' is very random - Blenders come in many sizes - my blender holds 5 cups - other folks use a blender that is much smaller.

The instructions go on to suggest feeding other protein sources - with one of them being BML. If you are feeding BML - the above recipe (or the other protein choices) should not be used along with it - just follow the BML diet instructions - including the restricted list of fruits and only frozen mixed vegetables each night.

Please look at the various feeding plans that have been proven to keep gliders healthy for many years and choose one plan to follow for your glider.

http://www.gliderkids-diet.com/Staple-Recipes.html

Do not use the heat pad. Gliders are warm blooded animals and do not need an external heat source to maintain their body heat.

Hi! That breeder's diet could definitely be causing some digestive issues. I recommend you switch to Original HPW. There are quite a few staples to choose from, but I find that to be easiest. You have to order the wombaroo powder and bee pollen online, then make the recipe at home with eggs and honey and water. A sugar glider should get 1 TBSP staple (HPW if you choose that), 1 TBSP mixed fruits, and 1 TBSP mixed veggies each night. For fabrics, you should only use fleece in the cage, and other toys like those made of hard plastic are fine. She should not need a heating pad. Just keep your house above 70 degrees at all times and she will be fine. If you get below that, around 65 degrees, gliders CAN die from being too cold. You should also get her a friend, gliders become lonely and depressed quickly when alone and need to be in pairs. They can start to self-harm if left alone for too long. Good luck!
