ok.. so i definetly felt a lump in her pouch. i would take it to be about just less than a half inch long. not to worry i havent put her in the cage with the male yet. im worried about when i finally do because i dont want the male to hurt her baby. and when will i have to worry about the mama possibly eating the baby(for one reason or another). i was warned that she might be pregnant and i believe she is. im prepaired to do what i have to do to keep her and (hopefully) the baby healthy.

Is the baby his? Have they been together? How is she pregnant if they are in separate cages?

The glider dad plays a very important role in raising the babies. Having a joey alone could really stress her out. If they are separated now, it is a good time to get him neutered. He can be healed and ready to help out by the time the joey comes.

she just got the female glider. so the joey doesnt belong to the male. the joey will have to stay away from the male for awhile or the male will kill it cause its not his.

I've not known gliders to kill joeys for this reason.

If the female doesn't have the help of a male, you will really need to step in and help her a great deal once the joey is out of pouch. She will need breaks from the joey to eat and play, and she must trust that you are safe to leave her joey with. Is she bonded to you? If not - hopefully you can put a lot of effort into that now.

ok the sugar glider was pregnant before i got her. well im a bit worried because she isnt eating much. she took a nibble or two from the hpw diet and a little nibble of honey. she doesnt seem lethargic... when i go to pet her she responds.. i will obviously do what i have to.. to keep her and the joey healthy.. to the best of my ability.

Lots of protien is key for mama and I think keeping them seperate is best for now... She needs the least amount of stress possible, plus if you haven't already you have to complete the 30 quarantine and 2 vet checks....

If she is acting lethargic, please check hydration levels by pinching the back of her neck, if the skin stays up, you'll need to get her onto some liquids ASAP....

You may also want to get a joey rejection kit, just to be ready.... Congrats on the little one ^.^

Best of luck to you!!! I really hope there is a happy ending here. have you read the info on Suz's site about how to help a rejected joey, just in case? And do you have a joey rejection kit on hand? I've never had joeys so I don't know any other advice but to read read read and prepare your little butt off! Which it does sound like you are doing.

Here is a link just in case!!
